Not directly on the beach
This small Porto Cesareo property is close to
the beach and provides friendly service, also offering a well-regarded
restaurant with a wood-burning pizza oven and half or full-board options. The hotel’s style is a bit stuck in
the 1980s and the guest rooms are on the small side, but they are clean; some have small balconies. Guest can partake of an abundant buffet breakfast, and there's a gym and conference center on-site. L'Angolo di
Beppecaters to longer stays and has packages available for week-long
bookings. Other hotels are closer to the beach, but most have higher rates.
Scene
An ‘80s throwback with a homey vibe
With lots of white marble and black
furniture and various artwork hanging on the walls, this spotlessly clean property looks like the living room of someone’s home that hasn't been updated since the
1980s. The large, open breakfast room feels a bit more like a hotel, with high
ceilings and wood-paneled columns, but it gives off the same sort of dated
vibe. The restaurant, which is open to the public, has a similarly casual
atmosphere and is slightly reminiscent of the beach, with blue tablecloths and
what looks like fishermen’s nets covering the ceiling.
Location
On a main road, fairly close to the beach
The hotel is on a main road that leads to
the center of the 16th-century village of Torre Lapillo and to white sandy
beaches, which are a 10- to 15-minute walk away. The town center has many
restaurants and bars, along with the stone Tower of St. Thomas, one of the largest
towers in the area, having been built to ward off coastal attacks. It’s a
two-hour drive from Bari International Airport, while some of the main tourist
towns in the region, larger and busier seaside places like Lecce and Gallipol,
are up to 40 minutes away.
Rooms
Small and basic with dated decor
The 20
air-conditioned rooms here are on the small side. They’re clean and
fairly basic with sea-green walls and satiny comforters in grey and blue swirly
patterns. The overall generic, sedate feel is thrown off by couches clad in
loud fabrics looking like something Screech would wear on Saved by the Bell, which might actually work well for guests who
like a vintage '80s touch. The bathrooms are decently sized, with touches of
gray, purple, and aqua amid white tile work. Showers are just a separate
curtained area with a drain. Rooms also have small flat-screen TVs, minibars,
safes, and hairdryers. Some rooms have small balconies. Views from the windows overlook the countryside or have vistas of neighboring roofs.
