Baia Malva Resort is a mid-size, seaside holiday village consisting of small standalone apartments with modest outdoor spaces set on a country road. The property is adjacent to the beach and a few kilometers from Porto Cesareo. Spacious rooms are no-frills, with flat-screen TVs, terra cotta floors, and small outdoor terraces. An outdoor pool with lounge chairs, daily entertainment in an outdoor amphitheater, and a children’s play area make this a resort well-suited to families.
Scene
Seaside holiday village
The resort’s main structure is a plain, two-level stucco building painted a vibrant peach with vague references to Art Déco. The lobby is similarly ambiguous in aesthetic, and slightly institutional in its minimalism, though not unpleasant. The apartments are set along wide, brick-tiled pathways lined with palm trees. The overall aesthetic is of a suburban subdivision.
Location
150 meters from the water and a few kilometers from Porto Cesareo
Two beaches are particularly convenient to the property; the first, exclusive to the property, is a very walkable 150 meters from the resort; the other, slightly further and just under a kilometer away, is linked to the resort via a free shuttle bus. Set on a country road in the middle of fields a few kilometers outside Porto Cesareo, the resort is accessible a good handful of times per day from Porto Cesareo via bus line (about 10 minutes.)
Rooms
Spartan apartments with small outdoor spaces
Independent apartment-like structures contain two choices of rooms. The smaller choice consists of a single room with a bathroom; larger rooms are modestly sized apartments (sans kitchen) with a built-in couch and sitting area separate from the bedroom. Both options have a pleasant covered outdoor terrace with a table and chairs. Décor is minimal, with the occasional maritime-themed photograph; terra-cotta tile floors, white laminate built-ins and plastic chairs make for new, if spartan, interiors. All rooms have a fridge, air-conditioning, and a small, wall-mounted TV.
Features
Well-maintained pool, outdoor amphitheater, children’s play area
Multiple guests have commented on the entertainment provided by the proprietors, some of it held in the large outdoor amphitheater, handsomely tiled in blue and white. The outdoor pool is surrounded by a good number of deck chairs and some built-in shade awnings. There are tennis courts as well as an outdoor playground. Beach umbrellas and chairs are provided for the adjacent beach for a fee; multiple guests have noted that the attached configuration of the chairs makes for awkward crowding and blocks sun. The restaurant gets adequate to good reviews; some have noted repeat of dishes and that breakfast has the best selection of the meals.
