Lido Palace

Lido Palace is housed in a building that juxtaposes historic stone with modern glass elements. Nestled on a large expanse of lush grounds, the beautiful gardens are filled with trees, green lawns, stone paths, and loungers for relaxing. The hotel opened in 1899 as a resort destination for European royalty. It has received Austrian princes, duchesses, and even Italian King Vittorio Emanuele and Queen Elena in 1921. The hotel underwent a major renovation at the end of the 90s, and renovations were done in 2000 and 2011 to complete the trendy and innovative design seen today. 

The lobby brings in an abundance of natural light as its encased in a glass cube -- the walls and ceiling are entirely made up of glass and steel. Bright teal couches sit in front of the white and brown front desk on polished coffee-colored floors that have slow inclines and geometric steps leading to the main stone building. The public spaces have a more traditional feel with grand stone columns, arched windows, gray floors, and contemporary gray couches with orange pillows. Like the lobby, the lounge areas are spacious and have an airy atmosphere thanks to high ceilings with crown molding. 

The bars and restaurants have an equally sophisticated and trendy design. The restaurant has intimate lighting, wooden floors, views of the lush landscape, and white tablecloth-clad tables with modern gray chairs. The bar has a more artistic vibe with abstract designs and backlighting, plus a lounge area with wooden floors, turquoise couches, and a grand piano. Thanks to its features and tony look, this hotel attracts well-heeled couples looking for a top-notch, peaceful getaway. 

Lido Palace has a secluded atmosphere, due in part to its large grounds filled with gardens and trees, but it's conveniently situated within walking distance of attractions, restaurants, and shops in Riva del Garda. There’s a beachy area that’s a nine-minute walk from the hotel, while Pini Beach is a 13-minute walk. The mountains that surround the small city offer hiking and bike trails and can be reached within a 15-minute walk. Marocche Dro is about a 20-minute drive and offers hiking in a rocky post-glacial area. It takes seven minutes on foot to reach the historic Rocca fortress. For business travelers, the conference center, Riva del Garda Congressi, is across the street. There is a bus stop just a minute away, but the nearest train station in Mori is about a 20-minute drive. The nearest airport is in Verona and takes an hour to reach. 

Guest rooms at Lido Palace are spacious by European standards, with chic and understated decor. Gray floors are complemented by a handsome white-and-gray color scheme and orange accents. Furniture is a mix of streamlined couches and chairs, gray lacquered work desks, and recessed wooden headboards, and wardrobes with frosted glass doors (in some). Little luxe details like sheets bordered in a satin stitch or crystal tumblers add to the overall elegance. Windows offer lovely views of the gardens, mountains, or lakes. All rooms are air-conditioned and have flat-screen TVs, minibars, and free Wi-Fi, though no coffee- and tea-making facilities. The Baldo Suite has a sun terrace. Bathrooms are spacious, with heated towel racks, bidets, Acqua di Parma toiletries, robes and slippers, and steam-resistant mirrors. Upper-level suites have heated floors. Most have shower/tub combos with rainfall showerheads, though some have separate deep soaking tubs and walk-in rainfall showers. 

Lido Palace offers elegantly designed facilities, many of which include lovely views of the grounds. The most attractive are the wellness features, which include an indoor and outdoor pool separated by a glass wall, as well as an indoor hot tub. The sleek, stylish spa offers a number of massages and beauty treatments, as well as saunas, baths, "emotional showers" with tinted lights, and a salt room. The fitness center is spacious and equipped with modern cardio and weight equipment. There’s an outdoor clay tennis court on the grounds. 

Dining options include Il Re della Busa, which serves seafood-oriented meals and offers alfresco dining on a candle-lit terrace. Tremani Bistrot has a Mediterranean-inspired menu, while the Bali Bar offers a number of drink options. Room service is offered 24/7. Other on-site amenities include three fully equipped meeting rooms for up to 60 people, but there's no on-site business center. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. The hotel also offers valet parking and airport transfers (for a fee). Pets are allowed for an additional charge.
