There is little to say about this budget chain hotel. The location is convenient to downtown Providence and the Garden City Center, and the rates are among the cheapest in the area. Other than that, Econo Lodge Cranston doesn’t have a lot going for it. The housekeeping is questionable, and the rooms are in dire need of renovations. On the plus side, you won’t spend a lot of money.
Scene
For a luxurious, or even mid-range experience, be sure to look elsewhere
The Econo Lodge Providence is located on a busy street, and the perk to staying here is the fact that it’s merely a 10-minute drive to downtown Providence. And if you’re a shopper, the Garden City Center across the street has plenty of big-name shops, as well as some nice smaller ones. But if you’re planning to spend any time in your room, you may be disappointed. The housekeeping leaves something to be desired, and the rooms are in definite need of renovation. Holes in the walls, scuffs on the wallpaper, and stains all over the carpet -- you get what you pay for, because you’re not paying much. Econo Lodge Providence is for those on a tight budget without a lot of options. Otherwise, it's best to go somewhere else.
Location
Conventient location 6 miles from downtown Providence
The hotel is actually located Cranston, a suburb of Providence, which is just a quick drive to downtown. Plus, by staying outside the city, you can enjoy room rates that are much cheaper. Just across the street from the hotel is the Garden City Plaza with plenty of shops (Gap, White House Black Market, etc.) and restaurants like Paparazzi and Newport Creamery.- 10-minute drive to T.F. Green Airport, Providence, RI
Rooms
You get what you pay for, which isn’t much
The rooms at Econo Lodge Cranston are no frills, motel-like hotel rooms. The rates are cheap, so don’t expect luxury or even mid-range chain hotel luxury. The bathrooms are showing signs of age -- cracked mirrors, bathtubs in need of re-caulking, toilets that seem to run whenever they feel like it, and ceiling tiles showing water damage. The bedrooms aren’t much better -- stained carpets, holes in the wall, scuffs and stains on the furniture, and questionable bedding. But if you’re on a budget, sometimes you don’t have a lot of options, and the location is convenient to Providence.- Free Wi-Fi
