Novotel Avignon Centre

Built in 2011, this Novotel has modern interiors and a sleek, fresh design. The bright lobby has plenty of public spaces, with modern curved chairs and soft gray couches giving everything a cozier feel. The breakfast room leads out onto the patio with outdoor seating, and there is a bar on the terrace, which is lovely in sun-soaked summer months. The bar overlooks the hotel's large outdoor pool, which is surrounded by sleek sun loungers and umbrellas. It's no surprise that this is a popular spot when the weather warms up, with many families and children congregating here. The hotel has a lot of family-friendly features and a convenient location just outside the city's ramparts, so it attracts mostly families. A fair share of business travelers also stay here due to the extensive meeting facilities. Although the atmosphere is generally laid-back and relaxed, some guests have complained about inattentive staff and a cold atmosphere. 

The hotel is located just outside Avignon's famous medieval city walls. Situated on a main street, it's within walking distance to most attractions and sights, and a convenient four-minute walk from Avignon's central train station. There's plenty of activity in the immediate area, with many shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. The Palais des Papes, Place de l'Horloge, and Pont d'Avignon are all a 15-minute walk from the hotel, while Pont du Gard is an easy 25-minute drive. The ruins of Pont Saint-Benezet are about a 20-minute walk from the hotel. Avignon-Caumont Airport is a 20-minute drive away, while Marseille Provence Airport is a one-hour drive from the hotel. 

Like the rest of the hotel, all 130 guest rooms have fresh, contemporary decor. Walls and bedding are all white, floors are carpeted, and furniture is kept simple, with sleek wooden work desks and closets. Rooms are compact, though some higher categories are a bit more spacious. Standard features include air-conditioning, safes, phones, flat-screen TVs, kettles, minibars, and hairdryers -- though Executive Rooms add Nespresso coffeemakers as well as bathrobes and slippers. Wi-Fi is free but can be spotty. Family-sized rooms are also available, which can sleep two adults and two children. Front-facing rooms have lovely views of the ancient city walls, while others overlook the outdoor pool and patio. Bathrooms are modern, with granite tiles, rainfall showers, separate toilets, and free eco-friendly toiletries. A clever glass partition separates the bathroom from the room, and turns opaque at the touch of a button for privacy. The hotel is mostly quiet, but the passing trains and street can be a little bit noisy in some rooms. 

The Novotel Avignon Centre offers convenient facilities for business travelers and tourists alike. The large outdoor pool is a highlight, especially in the warm summer months. The terrace bar is popular in the evenings, serving a selection of cocktails and wines. A spacious and modern restaurant has indoor/outdoor seating and serves up simple international cuisine plus a  breakfast buffet in the mornings. Unfortunately, it's quite expensive. Two kids under 16 can eat breakfast for free if they're with a parent. There is a (small) 24-hour fitness center with modern equipment, large business center with meeting rooms, and a relaxing spa with a sauna, hot tub, hammam, and beauty salon. The hotel caters well for kids too, with an outdoor playground and computer game consoles. Guests can also use a public Mac desktop. Other services include a 24-hour front desk, concierge, and a paid parking garage. Room service is available, but hours are limited. Pet are allowed to stay at the hotel, but this costs extra. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
