Spacious rooms have mini-fridges and blackout curtains
Some rooms have kitchenettes and balconies
Decent Mediterranean food at on-site restaurant
Free breakfast buffet
Cozy lobby bar with antique furnishings and fireplace
Free Wi-Fi throughout property
Rooms can look dated and stark
Some rooms lack air-conditioning and proper soundproofing

Breakfast buffet selection is subpar
Well within walking distance of Old Town and Wenceslas Square, and on a quiet street without traffic disturbance, this budget property’s value for its location is its biggest perk -- everything else is purely mediocre. Though the old-fashioned decor in the lobby and bar is eye-catching, most other spaces simply look dated. The 146 rooms, while decently sized (some have kitchenettes), can lack air-conditioning and proper soundproofing, and some guests report unpleasant bathroom odors. Breakfast at the sit-down Mediterranean restaurant is included with rates, but the spread is subpar. Property-wide Wi-Fi is free and often spotty. The Antik has similar rates even closer to Old Town Square, with air-conditioned rooms and slightly better amenities.
Scene
Budget hotel popular with deal-seeking tourists
A sister hotel of the nearby Residence Leon D’Oro and Charles Bridge Palace hotels, this property has a similar atmosphere that prioritizes functionality over style. Some elements, like the large, framed historic paintings in the lobby, antique furniture in the lobby bar, and golden banisters along a spiraling staircase, add some traditional character, but other areas look archaic and some furniture is mismatched. Several hallways are dimly lit. Although the hotel has been renovated, it could certainly use another facelift. Overall, it’s a decent option for budget travelers who don't plan on spending much time in the hotel, and is especially popular for bachelor/bachelorette parties and student groups.
Location
Central location walkable to Old Town, Wenceslas Square, and Namesti Republiky
Situated on a residential street in the Old Town, where traffic of the foot or car variety is minimal, the hotel’s quiet, central location is a huge draw for tourists who want to explore the city on foot. Several shops, cafes, and bars are within easy reach on the next few streets. The museums and monuments around Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, and Charles Bridge are all a 10-minute walk away. Namesti Republiky is a 13-minute walk away. Tram and metro stations are also both under 10 minutes away on foot, and it’s about 20 minutes via public transport to Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. Vaclav Havel Airport Prague is 25 minutes away by car, or 50 minutes away by public transport.
Rooms
Spacious and mostly clean, some with kitchenettes and air-conditioning
Standard rooms here are spacious, but look rather different from the website’s photos, with wooden floors instead of carpet, bare walls, basic beds, and plain wooden wardrobes. The atmosphere can feel stark and lighting is minimal, but the spaces are clean. Blackout curtains are useful, but many guests note that poor soundproofing from the hallways and adjacent rooms can be an issue. Some guests note a bleach-like and sewage smell in rooms and not all rooms have air-conditioning.Rooms are available in several varieties, from simple Doubles to Quadruples, apartment-like Family Rooms, and Suites, so styles and amenities vary quite a bit. Some have balconies (though views aren’t noteworthy), while others come with full kitchenettes including stoves, cabinets, refrigerators, sinks, and ovens. All rooms have desks and TVs, but safes must be requested. Wi-Fi is available, but the signal is weak, especially on higher floors. Mini-fridges and electric kettles are provided, but teabags or coffee-making equipment aren't presented in rooms. Bathrooms are small and basic. Some have an unpleasant sewage-like smell. All have bidets, and most have simple walk-in showers with handheld showerheads, though some come with bathtubs. Simple toiletries and hairdryers are provided.
Features
Restaurant serves decent lunch and dinner, but subpar free breakfast buffet
Features here are limited, though there is an on-site restaurant. Restaurant La Marsa, with black and white tile floors, a counter bar, and one brick wall, is an eclectic mix of retro and modern furnishings, with decent Mediterranean food for lunch and dinner. It also serves a daily breakfast included with rates, which can be delivered as room service for a surcharge. The buffet offers a decent amount of food, but it doesn’t get the best feedback, as past guests have noted that the bread can be dry, the fruit isn’t fresh, and the spread doesn’t vary from day to day. The lobby bar, featuring antique sofas and a fireplace, is a cozy place to relax. There are few other amenities here. Guests won’t find a gym or spa, and there isn't any parking. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
