The Park Inn
Hotel Prague is an upper-middle-range, business-oriented hotel located in the
picturesque Prague Two district of the city. A 15-minute tram ride to Prague's
Old Town, the location isn't great for tourists, though conference-goers have
the Prague Congress Center within 20 minutes' walking distance. The 210 guest rooms are clean and
modern with spacious bathrooms; while rooms overlooking the railway can be noisy, top-floor rooms with terraces have impressive cityscape
views. The free breakfast buffet is varied, and there's a large fitness center with great views. All in all it's a decent
enough chain hotel with reasonable rates, though most leisure visitors
will prefer something with a bit more character -- and nearer to the sights.
Scene
Impressive early 20th-century building housing efficient, modern chain hotel
With its imposing
early 20th-century, five-story facade complete with Art Nouveau touches, the Park
Inn Hotel Prague occupies what was once a printing and publishing house built
in 1907. Opened in 2009, it bears all the characteristics of a swish,
contemporary business-oriented hotel. The bright, airy, clean-lined lobby is decorated with glass paneling and a no-nonsense reception desk. The mood is
hushed, minimal, and efficient with little in the way of decor beyond
old-fashioned printing press-style articles and photographs referencing the
building's original incarnation. The restaurant and bar are similarly minimal, with sleek light fixtures, low-lying dark leather seating, and brushed wood floors. Although clientele leans towards the corporate
visitor during the week, the hotel is also popular with weekending tourists who'd rather
to be away from the bustle of the tourist center.
Location
Relatively quiet spot away from tourist center in Prague Two district of city
The hotel is
located on a relatively quiet, cobbled street surrounded by equally impressive,
historic buildings in the Prague Two district of the city. Its position is far
from ideal for exploring Old Town Prague, with most of the main tourist
attractions about two miles from the hotel. The Výtoň tram stop four minutes away,
however, connects with central Prague's Wenceslas Square in about 15 minutes,
while the nearest metro stop (Karlovo náměstí) is just over 10 minutes away on
foot. Those in town for business have the Prague Congress Center within walking
distance (15-20 minutes), while the location makes access to Prague's Václav
Havel Airport convenient, at around 20 minutes by car.
Rooms
Simple, bright, and modern rooms -- the top-floor rooms include spacious balconies
The hotel's 210
rooms are decorated in simple, modern style in the chain's signature primary colors. The contemporary furnishings are all tidy and well-maintained but lacking some
in the way of character. All the
amenities guests would expect from this level of hotel are present and correct,
including free Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite TVs, and well-stocked minibars. Bathrooms are spacious and nicely finished with beige and dark brown tile, and modern shower/tub combos. Executive Rooms also have the bonus of opening to top-floor, furnished, and
rather spacious balconies with views over the city's rooftops. Be aware that
some rooms overlook a railway line, which can be noisy despite double-glazed
windows.
Features
Spacious, top-floor fitness room with superb views over Prague skyline
The hotel's
breakfast room serves a hot and cold buffet each morning, though it's not
always included in the rate. Further on-site dining can be found in the form of
the RBG Bar & Grill, which specializes in steaks and burgers, while the bar
has a good selection of Czech beers. The top-floor fitness room is bright and
spacious with plenty of machines and free weights, as well as a terrace
providing views over Prague. Business
guests are well catered for, as there are five tech-equipped meeting rooms, a fully equipped business
center, and on-site parking, as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
