Scene

Housed in a historic building on a charming square

Hotel Three Storks is a beautiful three-story, 14th-century classical building located on the corner of a cobblestone square in Prague's Lesser Town, near Old Town. The building originally housed a brewery run by Augustine monks, and the hotel gets its name from a relief plaque of three storks on the corner of its facade. The hotel's entrance is through intricately carved wooden doors, which open onto the reception area -- a room with classical vaulted ceilings and a flashy reception counter covered in shiny mosaic work. Public areas are minimalist, with white walls and curtains, red carpets, contemporary furniture, and a few potted plants. A plant-filled cobblestone courtyard is a pleasant spot to relax. Clientele is a mix of leisure and business travelers.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms with streamlined decor and DVD players -- some with views of Prague Castle

The 21 rooms at Hotel Three Storks are elegant and subdued, yet stylish and modern. Walls are a stark white, complementing the warm tones of the hardwood floors. Boxy sofas, molded armchairs, and white furniture are starkly modern, but they blend well with the classical prints that adorn the walls. All rooms include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, free Wi-Fi, electric kettles, and minibars. Bathrooms are ultra-modern, with chic vessel sinks, spacious walk-in showers, and handy amenities like magnifying mirrors, towel warmers, hairdryers, and toiletries. Double and Triple Deluxe Rooms have a few extras -- a free bottle of wine and nonalcoholic drinks from the minibar on arrival. Some rooms have stunning views of Prague Castle; others have intricately painted ceiling beams -- an interesting period detail. Be aware that street-facing rooms on the lower floor pick up some ambient noise.

Features

Free breakfast buffet, restaurant, conference hall, and free Wi-Fi

As a small boutique property, the Hotel Three Storks doesn't pack the mega amenities of a large, upscale chain -- there is no spa or pool. But then it has its own touches: The buffet breakfast -- a spread of breads, pastries, cereals, fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, cheeses, and fruit -- comes with Champagne. The hotel's on-site restaurant, Waldstejnska Hospoda, focuses on traditional Czech specialties, and is open for lunch and dinner. The conference hall can fit up up to 53 people. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Nearby paid parking can be arranged, and the staff will help with tours and excursions, laundry, currency exchange, and shuttle service to the airport.
