Bottom Line
The 28-room Hotel Pod Vezi is an upper-mid-range property with a great central location next to the famous Charles Bridge. Many of Prague's top attractions are within walking distance. Rooms have a homey, traditionally elegant design with Nespresso coffeemakers, heated towel racks, robes, and antique chandeliers. Bathrooms lack counter space, though, and some rooms can only be reached using the stairs. On the top level there is a marvelous roof terrace with seating and beautiful city views, and all on-site cuisine, including the free breakfast, receives great reviews. There is no on-site fitness center and on-site parking costs extra, but the hotel is pet-friendly and has a business center and free Wi-Fi.

A traditional and cozy family-run hotel
Spread across two historic buildings, the Hotel Pod Vezi is a family-run property with a welcoming atmosphere. Historical decor and traditional Czech architecture decorates the pink hotel with low vaulted ceilings in the lobby and Restaurant Pod Vezi. The lobby is homey with older wood chairs with a traditional pattern matched to wood furniture, paintings, and a vintage chandelier. Restaurant Pod Vezi’s swirling wallpaper, older style light fixtures, and faux aged paint have classic taste while the Café Creperie Pod Vezi is a bit more modern with red striped placemats and curtains, reddish-tan tile flooring, and updated lighting. Paintings adorn the common areas as well, which gives these spaces an intimate feel. Up on the roof terrace there is wonderful wood seating and gorgeous views of the town. This hotel is small, but feels open, cozy, and inviting.
Location
In Mala Strana, next to the Charles Bridge
The Hotel Pod Vezi is located at the end of the Charles Bridge in Mala Strana. Surrounding the hotel are historic Czech buildings, restaurants, and public transportation stops while the Prague Castle, Lennon Wall, and Bridge Tower are about a 10-minute walk away. Old Town and the Astronomical Clock are about a 15-minute walk away and a rental car is only necessary if you plan to leave the city.
Rooms
Large, homey rooms with antique fixtures
All rooms have a flowery scent with attractive (although slightly aged) furnishings in a cozy environment. Swirling patterned pillows and comforters in neutral tones help accent the golden chandeliers and vintage wood furniture, while photos of historic Czech buildings cover the walls. Gray patterned carpet and tan drapes add to the subtle color palette while older blue chairs provide additional seating. Flat-screen TVs, well-stocked minibars, and Nespresso coffeemakers make the space modern while slippers and robes add comfort. Some rooms have views of the Charles Bridge or historical town while others have antique wood ceilings, herringbone wood floors, or exquisite molded ceilings. However, upper floor rooms can only be accessed by the stairs.
Bathrooms are a sea of white with pinkish or grayish white tile and white sinks attached to the walls. Frosted glass adds privacy to the shower or tub and there are scales provided. Heated towel racks and makeup mirrors are great extras, but the small glass shelves with Four Elements amenities doesn’t leave much room for toiletries.
Features
Excellent on-site restaurants and free breakfast
A major highlight for guests is the food at the two restaurants and free breakfast buffet. All eateries receive outstanding reviews and offer a great variety of choices. The breakfast buffet includes breads, cereals, meats, cheeses, and pastries while the Restaurant Pod Vezi has Czech and international cuisine in addition to an extensive wine list. The Café Creperie Pod Vezi serves homemade strudel, pancakes, and of course, French crepes, and there is room service as well. The lobby’s business center is free to use and the hotel is pet-friendly, but only one pet is allowed per room. There is no on-site fitness center and the on-site parking incurs a daily fee. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
