Green Garden Hotel

The Green Garden Hotel occupies a beautiful converted Art Nouveau building that has lots of character. The style is largely traditional throughout, with period features such as a wrought-iron staircase, lots of polished hardwood, wooden paneling, and wonderful frescoes. It's definitely old school and not without its appeal, though the decor won't suit all travelers. For the most part, though, previous travelers like the hotel's intimate, romantic vibe. The large plant-lined Green Garden restaurant is a highlight, with its glass ceiling and stained-glass details really drawing on the hotel's early 20th-century origins. Couples are the most frequent visitors here, but the hotel also attracts families and friends looking for a quieter location outside the main city center. 

This hotel is in Prague's New Town, a short walk to I.P. Pavlova Metro station, which puts most of the city's major sights within easy reach. For nightlife, Wenceslas Square is only a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Otherwise, there are a few bars, restaurants, shops, and convenience stores in the immediate neighborhood. The major attractions of Old Town and Prague Castle are too far to reach on foot for most travelers, and you'll need to hop on the tram, metro, or a bus to reach most. It's a 20-minute journey by bus to Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral, while the Old Town and the wonderful Astronomical Clock will take around 20 minutes to reach by metro. Visitors should expect a 60-minute journey on public transport to reach Vaclav Havel International Airport. The same trip takes about 25 minutes in a taxi.

Decor is similar across the hotel's many configurations and categories, with carpeted floors, contrasting emerald and red accents, classic wooden furniture, and matching drapes, bedspreads, and pillows. Rooms are well maintained, but the overall effect may still be a little dated for some. All come with free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, minibars, electric kettles, flat-screen TVs, desks, safes, and seating areas. Family Suites include separate living rooms with pullout couches. Some top-floor rooms offer views to Prague Castle, and Luxury Suites come with free bottles of sparkling wine and chocolate pralines on arrival. Despite soundproofing and double-glazed windows, some front-facing rooms may pick up noise from passing traffic on the main road outside. Bathrooms have tile flooring, but again, the floral accent tiles won't be to everyone's tastes. Larger units have shower/tub combos, double vessel sinks, and bidets, while smaller units have only shower stalls and limited counter space. All bathrooms include wall-mounted hairdryers, towels, and free toiletries. Larger units also include robes and slippers.  

This small hotel has a limited number of amenities, the highlight of which is the beautiful Green Garden restaurant, with its greenery, huge columns, and intricate stained-glass panels. The restaurant serves traditional Czech fare, as well as a range of international cuisines. The hotel also has a smaller lounge restaurant serving breakfast, though the meal isn't included in regular room rates. A intimate lobby bar has a large flat-screen TV and provides a quiet space for guests to chill out after a day of sightseeing. Perhaps surprisingly, the hotel also offers a small spa area, with a sauna, hot tub, and some nooks for reading and relaxing. Massages can be arranged. Green Garden has conference, meeting, and wedding facilities, plus concierge services, tour and ticket assistance, dry cleaning and laundry services, luggage storage, and an on-site currency exchange. Parking is available for a daily fee, and the hotel can arrange airport transfers (for a fee). Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
