Adjacent to the Palladium
Shopping Mall, the Grand Majestic Plaza is an upscale hotel with 196 spacious (but sometimes noisy) rooms with modern bathrooms. The hotel is a good fit for business travelers, with a restaurant on-site seating up to 120 guests and a meeting space
accommodating up to 289 people, along with a spa and a coffee shop. Although the hotel is not in Old Town, it’s less than a 20-minute walk to the Astronomical Clock
Tower and Old Town Square. Another upscale option in a similar price-range is the Designhotel Elephant, which shares amenities with an adjacent five-pearl hotel and, unlike the Grand Majestic, has a fitness center and free Wi-Fi.
Scene
Classic exterior with showy features inside
A classic building on a
cobbled side street, the interiors of the Grand Majestic Plaza are contrastingly modern and showy on
the inside. Water falling from the ceiling of the atrium into a marble fountain
creates a grand, eye-catching feature, while red leather couches
and lighted cube tables form a seating area surrounded by gray columns. The
Nespresso Cafe, decorated with exotic plants and orchids in silver planters, offers
cocktails and coffee for guests. A free buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant, which has sleek black tables and trendy white
chairs. Many of the guests here are business travelers.
Location
On a side street near Palladium Shopping Center
The hotel
is located on a cobbled side street near Palladium Shopping Center, which has
over 150 shops and 25 restaurants. Old Town Square with its famous Astronomical Clock can be
reached in about 15 minutes on foot. It’s about a five-minute walk to the tram
station, and Prague Castle can be reached in around 20 minutes via public
transportation. The airport is less than a 25-minute drive away.
Rooms
Contemporary rooms with minimal decor and modern bathrooms
Rooms at the Grand Majestic Plaza have brown and white walls and brown-striped carpeting. Decor is minimal; funky red chairs and modern, sleek desks look a little out of place. Bathrobes and slippers are provided, and bathrooms are modern with shower/tub combos, soap, and lotion dispensers. All rooms have wall-mounted, flat-screen TVs, kettles, and minibars. Wired Internet is available in rooms free of charge, but guests who want to use Wi-Fi will need to pay extra for the privilege. Some rooms can get street noise, especially those located on lower levels.
Features
Nespresso Cafe, restaurant with free breakfast buffet, and spa with whirlpool and Thai massage
The hotel has a Nespresso Cafe
on-site as well as a restaurant with a free hot and cold breakfast
buffet in the morning and a la carte menus at lunch and dinner. There’s a spa on-site offering Thai massages as well as a sauna and a whirlpool.
The hotel has a business center with two computers, and printing/fax
services are available for a fee. Conference rooms are available for events, the
largest accommodates up to 289 people, and transportation to and from the
airport can be arranged through the hotel for a fee. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel for a surcharge.
