Bottom Line

The 76-room Elite Hotel is a historic, upper-mid-range property with a convenient, central location on the edge of the Old Town. Many of the most popular sights in Prague and public transportation stops are within easy walking distance. This hotel has historic charm -- picture stone vaulted ceilings and vintage wood furnishings -- and is pet-friendly.
Rooms are slightly dated when it comes to fabrics (such as patterned bedspreads), but the wood pieces, especially the 17th-century bed frames, are in fantastic condition. Guests need reservations for the on-site spa and parking (both of cost extra), but there is a free breakfast and free Wi-Fi.

Elite Hotel

Scene

Historic, charming hotel with lots of character

Old world charm coats this hotel, from the vaulted stone ceilings to the tiled floors. Originally built in 1380 and now created from several
historic buildings, the Elite Hotel is full of maze-like hallways and small wooden staircases; there's also a beautiful vintage-style front desk. Red leather chairs and blue painted doorways add some color to the otherwise neutral hotel, and there are free newspapers in the lobby. Interesting artwork hangs from many of the walls to break up the neutral tones, while the exterior has beautiful red paint on the windowpanes and classic arches. Every inch of this hotel has character, but it also feels cozy despite some dated decorations.

Location

On the edge of Old Town; many sights are within walking distance

The Elite Hotel is located off Spalena Road on a narrow cobbled
street on the edge of Prague's Old Town. There is a shopping center next door and many public transportation stops are within walking
distance. The Prague National Theater, Charles Square, the Astronomical Clock, and Wenceslas Square are all under a 15-minute walk away and a rental car is only necessary if you plan to leave Prague.

Rooms

Mix of antique and dated decor; gorgeous, original painted ceilings in suites

All rooms are soundproofed, but dimly lit, and have their own antique design. However, because of the age of the building, you can hear slight noise from other guests in their rooms. Greens, blues, or yellows in faded shades are dated and don’t add much, but the 17th-century bed frames and vintage wooden wardrobes look lovely. Air-conditioning, minibars, and flat-screen TVs decorate all rooms and there are heated towel racks in the bathrooms. Some rooms have courtyard or city views while suites include exquisite, original painted ceilings. Blue and white tile adorn all bathroom spaces with shower/tub combos and white sinks attached to the walls. There is limited counter space and all amenities are in dispensers either over the sink or in the shower.

Features

This pet-friendly property has a small spa, restaurant, and bar. Wi-Fi is free.

Although it’s not super luxurious, there is a wellness center/spa suite on-site, which includes a lovely sauna and whirlpool with colored
lights. Much of the decor is mismatched, but the shower does have a rainfall showerhead. In-room massages are available, but all services and use of the center require reservations. Underground parking is available, but limited, and should be booked in advance due to the lack of space. Concierge, laundry, and taxi services are on-site, and there is room service, but it has limited hours.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, including in the business center, and the hotel is pet-friendly.
