Located on the outskirts of the city center, Designhotel Elephant Prague is a modern, upscale hotel with 178 stylish rooms. All come with free Wi-Fi and small flat-screen TVs, but some of the rooms have limited counter space in the bathrooms. It’s less than a 20-minute walk to Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock Tower. The hotel shares a breakfast room, bar, and other services with the Grandior, a five-pearl hotel in an adjoining space. There's also a fitness center and a beautiful spa with wooden soaking tubs in the building. Business travelers may want to consider the similarly priced Grand Majestic hotel, a hotel with conveniences including a restaurant and coffeeshop on-site and meeting spaces available for private events.
Scene
Baroque exterior with modern spaces shared with luxury hotel
In a beautiful four-story building with a Baroque facade, the Designhotel Elephant Prague is contrastingly modern on the inside. A glass ceiling sheds light into the lobby, while large whimsical metal globes and metallic tables give the space an edgy look. Breakfast is served in a large room shared with the attached luxury hotel, Grandior, where pianists entertain diners with a musical range including Latin American tunes. The bistro, U Hajku, located in the conference center is swanky, with stylish wallpaper and funky ceiling lights, while the spa in the building offers a variety of unusual massages including Hawaiian lomilomi and coconut massages. Three wooden tubs in a stone room in the spa offer a rustic spot for relaxing. The hotel has enough meeting space to make it a good choice for business travelers, although tourists who don't mind the property's removed location away from the major sights are also well catered to.
Location
On the outskirts of town, near bus and metro stations
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city center near a major road. Old Town Square with its famous Astronomical clock can be reached in about 20 minutes on foot or via public transportation in 11 minutes. It’s about a six-minute walk to the Metro Station Forenc, and Prague Castle can be reached in around 35 minutes via public transportation. The airport takes just under 25-minutes to reach by car.
Rooms
Stylish, modern rooms with pretty decor and bathrooms that could use more counter space
The rooms at Designhotel Elephant Prague feature varying modern decor elements such as metallic tables with matching mirror frames as well as white pincushion headboards. Bedding runner designs range from shiny floral prints to yellow jacquards. All rooms have minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, free Wi-Fi, and small wall-mounted TVs. Watch out for twin beds pushed together to make a double. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations, although some lack sufficient counter space.
Features
Large breakfast buffet, restaurant with bar, and spa with a range of treatments
Several of the amenities at the hotel are shared with an adjoining hotel, including the large breakfast room where a free buffet is served that includes fruit, yogurt, pastries, and breads. There’s a restaurant and bar on-site and a fitness center and spa (reservations encouraged). A computer connected to the Internet is available at the front desk for guests to use and Wi-Fi is free for those who bring their own devices. There's also a huge meeting space that is dividable into nine separate halls and can accommodate up to 500 guests. Paid parking is available on-site in an underground garage, and the hotel can arrange airport transfers for a fee.
