Bottom Line

Cloister Inn Hotel is a mid-range, 73-room hotel
with reasonable rates for its convenient location
within walking distance of the Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. The decor is dated and basic, reminiscent of a 1980s chain hotel, but the atmosphere is welcoming. There’s a free
breakfast buffet, and coffee and tea are available throughout the day. There’s
no restaurant or bar on-site, but beer and wine are available to purchase in the
lobby. Those who don't mind staying farther from the city's main sights should compare rates with the Anna Hotel, a family-run boutique hotel with comfortable beds, more style, and a similarly welcoming atmosphere.

Scene

Former medieval monastery complex with rich history

The hotel is housed in a
complex with a rich and varied history. The complex was originally a medieval monastery founded
by the Jesuits, before being run by the Order of Grey Sisters of
St. Franciscus until 1950, when the building was taken over by the Communist regime
and inhabited by the secret police. The complex was returned to the Sisters
in 1990, and the Cloister Inn opened in 1999. Today the hotel has a welcoming staff and an inviting lobby with potted
plants, decorative curtains, and leather couches and chairs. A wooden cabinet holds wine and spirits, available for purchase, and a vending machine offers snacks for late-arriving guests. The breakfast
buffet is set up in a basic room with wooden tables and chairs, and high ceilings.

Location

Quiet, convenient location within short walk of the Charles Bridge

Cloister
Inn Hotel is located on a cobbled street in a quiet area on the edge of Prague's Old Town. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and several city sights are
within walking distance. The Charles Bridge and the town square, with its famous astronomical clock, are within a 10-minute walk. The tram is less than a 10-minute walk, and Prague Castle can be reached in under 20 minutes on public transportation. The airport is within a 30-minute drive, and the hotel can arrange transfers.

Rooms

Clean, traditional rooms with wooden furnishings

Rooms are the hotel are classic and clean, with crimson carpeting and pale walls. Decor is basic, reminiscent of 1980s chain hotels, but welcoming enough, with small lamps with red shades, patterned gold and
crimson bedding, and complementing curtains. Rooms are furnished with wooden
bureaus and desks, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and safe deposit boxes, and all have free
Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have blue tiled floors and small, walk-in showers. Some attic-style rooms have sloped ceilings, and single rooms are on the
small side. Double and Triple Rooms are more spacious, and some have red couches.

Features

Free breakfast buffet, wine and beer for sale, and Internet room

The hotel
serves a free breakfast buffet daily that includes boiled eggs, salami, and
cheese, among a range of options. There is no full restaurant or bar on-site, but there is a vending
machine with soft drinks and beer, and guests can purchase wine in the lobby. An Internet room has two computers and a printer available for guests’ use, and parking
is available for a fee.
