Bottom Line

As its name suggests, the best thing about the Central hotel is its prime location in the center of Prague. The value hotel is only a five-minute walk from the Old Town Square and the Astronomical
Clock Tower. The hotel serves a free breakfast buffet daily that includes hot and cold items,
and there’s a bar on-site serving cocktails and cappuccinos. The rooms are a bit
drab and dated in style, but some top-floor rooms have balconies with rooftop views. Guests who don't mind staying farther from the city's main sights should compare rates with the Anna Hotel, a family-run boutique hotel with a welcoming atmosphere and comfortable beds.

Scene

Value hotel with dated decor, and small bar and restaurant

The Central hotel is tucked away amid a row of buildings on a cobbled side
street in a quiet neighborhood where the loudest noise is from the nearby church's bell. Inside, the lobby is a bit dated and traditional in style, with brass rails and matching
light fixtures. There’s a wooden front desk with a small jewelry case displaying necklaces for sale, and a landing with four stylized chairs and a round table where guests can lounge. Long, gray curtains separate the lobby from the restaurant
and bar area. Pretty chandeliers and funky, modern chairs perk up the otherwise
dull dining area. The classic wooden bar is a popular spot for a cocktail or Irish coffee at all hours.

Location

Convenient, central location near Prague’s main attractions

The hotel
is in an excellent location on a quiet side street in Old Town Prague. There
are plenty of restaurants and cafes within walking distance, and it’s only a
five-minute walk to Old Town Square and its famous astronomical clock. Both the Charles Bridge and Wenceslas Square are
less than a 15-minute walk away. There are several tram stops within a short walk, and Prague Castle can be reached in less than 20 minutes on public transportation. The airport is just under a 25-minute drive.

Rooms

Basic, dated rooms, some with balconies and rooftop views

The hotel has clean rooms decorated in a bland, dated style, except for small framed photos and green carpeting that was replaced
in 2013 (though the overall look hasn't been updated much). Rooms have light walls and matching wooden headboards and desks. Most
bathrooms have small, walk-in showers, but rooms with shower/tub combinations
are available. All rooms have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have
skinny balconies offering rooftop views. Opt for a room near
the back to avoid the street noise and chiming of the nearby church bell.

Features

Free breakfast buffet, restaurant and bar, bicycles to rent

The hotel
serves a free daily breakfast buffet that includes eggs, sausages, and homemade pastries, such as strudel with vanilla sauce and traditional Czech plum cakes. The
restaurant offers a room service menu, including snacks, sandwiches, and meat boards.
There’s also a bar that serves coffee and cocktails all day. The hotel provides concierge
services and has a business center with one computer, a printer, and a fax
machine. There’s no parking, but bicycle rental is available.
