Lexis Port Dickson is an upper-middle-range beachfront resort situated about a 10-minute drive outside of Port Dickson’s center. The hotel’s attractive outdoor pool and adjacent kids’ pool are highlights, as is the array of activities offered here, from karaoke to horseback riding. There are also a game room stocked with arcade games, a movie room, a decently equipped fitness center, and a spa. The beach is a bit lackluster, and there’s only one dining option here, but it’s open all day and it serves international fare. The 264 rooms are divided between Premium Tower Seaview rooms in the main building, and those in chalets built over the water. Though a bit dated and showing some wear, all rooms are spacious and have balconies and large bathrooms equipped with both soaking tubs and separate walk-in showers. For something more upscale, consider the sister hotel, Grand Lexis Port Dickinson, where all rooms have private plunge pools.
What Are the Design and Scene Like at the Lewis Port Dickson?
Beachfront resort with some dated decor and over-water villas
Sitting on beachfront grounds dotted by tall palms, Lexis Port Dickson is housed in a main tower as well as a collection of villas built on stilts right over the water and linked by boardwalks. The main tower, a piece of contemporary white architecture, is where guests are greeted in the sleek, marble-floored lobby. The Balinese-inspired interiors feature tasteful, rather traditional decor, but spaces largely feel bland and tired. In the lobby, a long marble reception counter is paired with some seating areas dotted about, while fresh flowers and potted plants here and there add nice touches.
Lexis Port Dickson is a decent hotel choice for couples and families with kids alike, and there are plenty of activities here on offer to keep guests occupied. More discerning travelers, however, might want to consider the sister hotel, Grand Lexis Port Dickinson, instead, which is more upscale and polished, and all rooms have private plunge pools.
Where Is the Lewis Port Dickson Located?
On the waterfront, a 10-minute drive into the center of town
The Lexis Port Dickson is right off of a main road near residential neighborhoods and a power station, but it's well insulated from them by rows of planted trees lining a security wall. Its neighbor is sister hotel Grand Lexis Port Dickinson, and there are a few local eateries within walking distance, as well as some other hotels lining the coast. It's about a 10-minute drive into the heart of town for shopping and numerous seafood restaurants along the waterfront. Port Dickson is one of Malaysia's popular beach destinations, and it has family attractions like the Port Dickson Ostrich Farm, the Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve, and Rachardo Lighthouse (all about a 25- to 35-minute drive away). Expect an hour-and-10-minute drive into Kuala Lumpur and about an hour-and-20-minute drive to Subang Airport.
What Are Rooms Like at the Lewis Port Dickson?
Spacious, slightly dated rooms have tubs, separate showers, and outdoor spaces, plus some are over-water chalets
There are two main categories of rooms here: those situated in the main building (Tower Rooms) and those in the stilted chalets over the water. With their hardwood floors and orange accent walls, the spaces are inviting, though decor is rather simple and a bit dated. Additionally, some wear and tear is visible. Wooden furnishings include wardrobes, desks, and TV units. Small prints dot the walls here and there’s lots of natural light streaming through the windows, plus all units open onto private balconies furnished with loungers. Water chalets have glass floor panels so guests can see right into the water. Some rooms have daybeds.
Units are large, ranging from 418 square feet (39 square meters) to 605 square feet (56 square meters). Deluxe Water Chalets are the lower-category chalets, and the Executive and Premium Water Chalets add more space. All rooms are equipped with a decent range of amenities, including flat-screen TVs, electronic safes, minibars, electric kettles, irons and ironing boards, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have wet bars. Bathrooms are large and equipped with both soaking tubs and separate walk-in showers. Toiletries and wall-mounted hairdryers are provided.
What Features Are Available at the Lewis Port Dickson?
Array of activities, attractive outdoor pool, fitness center and spa, but just one restaurant
The Lewis Port Dickson hotel offers a wealth of activities, aiming to entertain kids and adults alike. From archery to karaoke in dedicated karaoke rooms, horseback riding to Jet Skis, there are lots of things to do. Segways are available for rent, and there’s even a Segway racetrack that guests can try. Sports courts include beach volleyball and soccer, plus guests can rent bikes. The game room is full of arcade and board games, and there’s a movie room for screening films. Outdoor playgrounds for kids have swings and slides.
The large outdoor pool is attractive and includes a shallow section for kids. The pool deck is framed by lush greenery and lined with loungers and there’s plenty of shaded spots. There’s a small stretch of beach here too, but it’s disappointing.
A small fitness center has a decent range of equipment, including a treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, and strength-training machines, plus there are saunas. There’s a spa here too that offers various treatments like massages.
The hotel has just one dining option, Aqua Coffee House, which serves all meals. Both local and international fare is available here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus there’s an outdoor area for alfresco dining. Guests can also pop over to the neighboring sister hotel for more dining options.
Other amenities offered include various event spaces, including a ballroom, and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
