Decor in common areas is dated
This Port Aransas resort centers around a massive pool area, with waterslides, a swim-up bar, a heated lap pool, and private cabanas. The complex includes more than 200 one- to three-bedroom condos with kitchenettes, and there are also a few different dining options on the premises. Family-friendly amenities include outdoor movies, and free yoga and Zumba classes. Each condo unit has its own owners, so the quality of the amenities varies, as do the housekeeping services, but the pool area is the same for everyone and pretty hard to beat.
Scene
Dated decor, but a renovated and sprawling pool area
Inside the blocky building, surrounded by flat, scrubby land, the property has a dated feel, with some worn carpeting and bland decor. The pool, however, is another story. It winds its way along the entire length of the large property, with some sprawling spots and some narrower ones, and with varying depths. White tables with green umbrellas surround the pool. The private cabanas are fairly stylish, with cushioned coaches and armchairs. It’s a busy spot that’s popular with families. There's also a restaurant, a more casual bistro, and a bar and grill by the pool.
Location
By the beach and a short drive from town
The resort sits next to the two-lane highway that runs along the coast from Port Aransas to North Padre Island. It’s a short walk down a boardwalk through the dunes to a sandy beach, and a 10-minute drive into the city of Port Aransas. Its a 35-minute drive from Corpus Christi International Airport.
Rooms
Condos are individually owned, so decor varies
There are 210 condos, which include fairly spacious one- to three-bedroom units. Each is individually owned, so the decor and the condition varies widely, but all have fairly spacious full kitchens, with refrigerators and ovens, as well as washers and dyers, and flat-screen TVs. Small balconies overlook different parts of the resort. Housekeeping can also be a little inconsistent.
Features
Huge pool area, three restaurants, and family-friendly activities
The draw here is the massive pool area, with large and small waterslides, a volleyball net, and a separate heated lap pool and hot tub. More than a dozen private poolside cabanas are available to rent for an additional fee. The beach can be reached via a boardwalk. Restaurant 361 is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there’s The Bistro in the lobby and a bar and grill by the pool, which offers a swim-up bar. There are free outdoor movies in the pool area a couple of nights a week, free yoga and Zumba classes, sand castle lessons, and painting classes. The resort has two tennis courts with racquets and balls available, a basketball hoop, and a beach volleyball court. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the resort, and meeting and function spaces are available.
