Shore Cliff Hotel

White Adirondack chairs sit on the grassy lawn lining the edge of the bluff, offering gorgeous views of the surf and beach. From a large gazebo, guests can view the rocky formations jutting straight up out of the ocean.The pool area is modern, with wooden lounge chairs with colorful cushions in greens and blues --  with a windowed fence allowing for spectacular view. The lobby has soaring windows, and clusters of classy, plush chairs. Breakfast is served in a pretty room with light blue walls, high ceilings, and tile floors. The property underwent renovations from 2016-2017, which brought contemporary upgrades to the front desk, facade, and hotel sign, as well as pretty new landscaping (and a bocce ball court) on the back lawn leading down to the ocean cliff.

Shore Cliff Hotel sits on the bluff between Pismo Beach and the mountains. It’s conveniently located off Highway 101. The area is quiet, and there are a few other hotels in the immediate vicinity as well as a restaurant within walking distance. There’s no direct beach access from the hotel, but the beach is within a short walk. It’s less than a five-minute drive to Pismo Pier, where people come to fish, surf, or simply admire the pretty views. 

The rooms, which were refurbished from 2016-2017, include light blue accent walls and white bedding with neutral bed runners, and attractive bedside lamps and accent pillows. All the rooms offer ocean views from patios or small balconies furnished with a couple of chairs and a side table. Coffeemakers, microwaves, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs with HBO, and free Wi-Fi are standard. Bathrooms have shower/tub combinations and Bath and Body Works toiletries. Renovated suites with kitchenettes and contemporary separate living spaces in shades of silver and blue are available.

The stunning views of the ocean are the stand-out feature here. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool and whirlpool, and there’s a small fitness center with a few treadmills and exercise bikes, along with tennis courts. A continental breakfast, which includes hard-boiled eggs, pastries, pancakes, and fresh fruit is served daily. Free parking is available, and there are laundry facilities on the property. In-room spa services can be arranged. An Internet corner has two computers and a printer for guests’ use, along with free Wi-Fi.
