The 133-room Sunsuri Resort Phuket is an upscale property on a lush hillside above Nai Harn Beach. The resort offers five sleek pools, a small spa, a gym, and poolside cocktails and dining. Minimalist, modern rooms are spacious and provide lake views plus big soaking tubs. Villas and suites feature kitchenettes and private pools. The hillside location, though, means there are steep inclines. The resort is one of the most popular in the area, so it can get crowded.

Guests are welcomed into the Sunsuri Resort Phuket’s chic lobby with a cocktail. Built in 2013, the resort represents its name Sunsuri, meaning peaceful sun. The lobby is wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows and features a charming, tall shelf stocked with porcelain and a gothic-inspired chandelier over the front desk. The open-air lobby lounge offers comfy sofas facing the tropical landscape and a lovely fountain. Outdoor hallways, which lead to rooms, are basic, but offer stunning views. Golf carts are parked outside the entrance with a glass marquee. The resort’s sleek design, lake views, and tropical atmosphere appeal mostly to couples, but families are also welcome. The Sandbox Kids’ Club offers colorful bean bags, two flat-screen TVs with video game consoles, and two PC computers.

A quiet beach location above Nai Harn Lake
Situated above Nai Harn Lake and the beach, this hotel is ideal for scenic jogs or bike rides. It’s a 15-minute walk to the beach, a quiet bay with a shaded picnic area. The airport is a 50-minute drive. Sinbi Muay Thai Training Camp is a four-minute drive. Promthep Cape is an eight-minute drive. The Phuket Surf Shop is an 11-minute drive. Rawai Beach is 10 minutes by car. It’s 24 minutes to the nightlife in Phuket town and the Phuket Ferry Boats. The Big Buddha statue is a 26-minute drive. Driving to Wat Chalong temple takes 17 minutes.

The Sip Bar is trendy and romantic with chic furniture, a pitched roof, red draperies that frame floor-to-ceiling windows, and a terrace overlooking the pools. The Surf Pool Bar and Restaurant offers terrace seating in a casual setting.Three meeting rooms -- including a boardroom and ballroom -- are on-site that can fit up to 400 people. Modern audiovisual equipment and catering is optional. A library in the lobby offers tall shelves stocked with books for guests. There’s also a desk with two PC computers and board games. Wi-Fi is free, but slow.
