The upper-middle-range Seaview Patong Hotel is not directly on the beachfront, but it does have the sea views its name suggests, and it's less than a minute's walk from Patong’s sand. Situated at a quieter end of the
beach, the hotel is a bit removed from the resort town, but it is within a 15-minute walk of the restaurants and the area's well-known nightlife. The 141 rooms feel cramped and lack character, while bathrooms in particular are small and worn, especially in the lower room categories. The overall decor feels heavy and dated, with dark wood leaching out any brightness. The buffet breakfast is good, but other food
available on-site gets mixed reviews. A better option could be the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket, which has stylish, up-to-date rooms.

The Seaview
Patong Hotel targets families with its quiet setting and extensive facilities.
The traditional design of the dark wooden balconies adds beauty to the exteriors. The dark-wood theme continues in the lobby,
with imposing grand pillars leading to a dark-wood ceiling, pastel walls, and a large spirit shrine beneath a large open light shaft, but the wicker seating looks contrastingly dated.
One side of the lobby is open to the elements and offers the namesake sea views. Amenities like the
spa and fitness room look contrastingly tired -- as does the interior part of the hotel’s
restaurant -- though its outdoor seating area is pleasant enough.

While not
set on the beach itself, Seaview Patong is only separated from the sand by a quiet road. Located at the calmer end of Patong beach -- though less than a
minute’s walk along from the busiest stretch -- the hotel remains within a
10-minute drive (or 30-minute walk) of Patong town and the restaurants, bars, and the area's famed nightclubs. Around an hour’s drive from Phuket
international airport and 40 minutes from Phuket town, the hotel is also
convenient for travel elsewhere around the island.
Rooms
Old-fashioned, somewhat charmless rooms; some with balconies or pool access
The Seaview Patong offers four different types of rooms, all of which come with minibars with wine and spirits, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and safes. The least expensive are the Superior Rooms, which feature lots of dark wood on the walls
and floor, but the effect is heavy and dated. Despite soft lighting, the bedding, curtains, and some of the other
furniture are uninspired and look tired. Balconies, though small and not present in all rooms, are pleasant and come with wooden seating. Bathrooms have shower/tub combos and old-fashioned patterned tiling and are small, cramped and -- in parts -- worn or grimy-looking. Deluxe Rooms are brighter and have slightly nicer-looking bathrooms, but
still suffer some dated furnishings. Deluxe Pool Access rooms have step access
to the pool, but as a result lack privacy. Suites are more spacious and benefit
from more elegant design touches, and each has a double and a single bed, a dining table, a day bed, and a largish balcony. Nonetheless, heavy curtains around the rooms detract somewhat from the more modern feel. Do note that the sea view promised in some
lower-level rooms is blocked by trees and electricity cables; opt for a higher-floor sea
view room to be sure to see the ocean. In addition, the hotel’s U-shaped design means noise
travels easily, which affects some rooms more than others. Other complaints include cleanliness issues and bad odors in rooms.

The hotel’s
two well-maintained large pools and children’s pool get positive reviews. The
large rectangular pool is great for lap swimming, while the second pool comes complete with an island for swimming circuits around. Tasteful wooden sunbeds and umbrellas surround the pools. The spa
gets good reviews despite its old-fashioned decor, and there's a small gym with a limited amount of equipment. There's also a dated-looking computer room that doubles up as a
reading space. The buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant is popular, but
other food available on-site gets mixed reviews; Wi-Fi is free in the
restaurant, but there's a fee for in-room access.
