Bottom Line

The three-pearl Deevana Patong Resort & Spa is a large resort tucked away on a quiet alley in the outskirts of Patong, with two separate wings, each offering a distinctive style. There are two beautiful pools, including one with a swim-up bar, and a small spa with whirlpool and private treatment rooms. The 216 guest rooms are spartan and clean, with mini-fridges and balconies with pool or garden views. While the surroundings are quiet and peaceful, the walk to either Patong Beach or the city center takes about 15 to 20 minutes. While it's not ideal for those who want to be in the center of the action, there are plenty of activities at the property to keep couples and, in particular, families occupied.

Scene

Airy, earth-tone interiors and landscaped gardens and pathways that lead to lovely pools

The Deevana Patong Resort & Spa is a spacious resort set on a vast expanse of landscaped tropical gardens. The resort comprises two separate buildings, each of which is three stories tall and has brown shingled roofs that creates a traditional, temple-like appearance. Each wing of the resort has its own pool. The Spa Wing Pool is tiered and rectangular, with elephant statues and a swim-up bar, while the free-form Garden Wing Pool has wooden lounge chairs and whirlpool-side seats surrounded by trees, lawns, and hilltops in the distance. The children’s pool has a mushroom-shaped fountain at its center, and sits near a small, colored-plastic playground. The lobby is vast, with geometric tiling and tan woven couches with purple cushions set against a wall of windows. Dalah Cuisine, the breakfast restaurant, is an atrium-style space with woven and wood furnishings, while the Balcony Cafe has lime-green walls and a pitched wood ceiling. Guests include a mix of couples, friends, and families, who tend to gather at the swim-up bar.

Location

On a quiet street a 20-minute walk from Patong Beach and the city center

The hotel sits at the end of a quiet street, just off of U Rathit, the busy main road that runs through Patong. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within a few minutes' walk, but it's more of a trek to get to Patong Beach, Bangla Road nightlife, or Jungceylon shopping center; each is about 15 to 20 minutes away on foot. The airport takes around 45 minutes to reach by car.

Rooms

Clean and simple rooms with balconies and pool or garden views

Rooms at the resort are simply decorated in dark colors. The tile floors and painted walls are shades of cream, while furnishings are made of painted black wood. Beds have white linens with small muted orange and green throw pillows; a black and gold decorative piece hangs above each bed. All rooms are air-conditioned and have flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, electric kettles, safes, and balconies overlooking the gardens or one of the pools. Bathrooms have walk-in showers and multicolor mosaic-style tiling behind the sinks. Interconnecting rooms are available -- a bonus for families.

Features

Two pools, swim-up bar, on-site dining, and spa with couples' treatment rooms

The resort has two distinctive pools: the free-form Garden Wing Pool and the tiered, rectangular Spa-Wing Pool, which has a swim-up bar that serves alcoholic beverages, fruit shakes, fresh coconut, and light snacks. Dalah Cuisine serves a buffet breakfast of Thai and continental dishes for a fee. The Balcony Cafe and Internet Restaurant serves lunch and dinner, with homemade cake for dessert. There's also a spa with a steam room, a whirlpool, and a beauty salon. Private rooms are available for couples, and treatments include various massages, facials, body wraps, and scrubs. The wood-floored fitness room has several cardio and weight machines, plus lots of windows. There's also a kids' pool and a playground. The hotel's business center has four PCs for guest use and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
