With its authentic Thai decor, open-air bar and restaurant, and two beautiful pools, the upscale Burasari Resort provides an idyllic respite from the hectic pace of Patong. This 186-room property is right across from the beach and a short walk from the heart of the city, yet feels cozy and secluded thanks to its leafy, tropical grounds. A variety of room types are available, and all come with free minibars. The property's spa offers a host of pricey treatments, but the Thai and continental buffet breakfast is free. This is a good choice for couples seeking a relatively quiet, romantic stay within close proximity of livelier environs in Patong.
Scene
Leafy, tropical resort with mix of traditional Thai and modern decor and stylish poolside atmosphere
The Burasari Resort is a four-story property surrounded by other larger hotels. Its grounds are lush and green; tropical plants and palm trees frame and tower over the two beautiful pool areas, around which the rooms are built. The Chandra Pool has a temple-like building at its center, while the Dara Pool is simpler, with a wood deck, wood lounge chairs shaded by beige umbrellas, and a fountain wall lined with plants in black pots. The lobby facade mimics a traditional Thai temple -- inside, the open-air space is decorated with gold lanterns, antique-style wood benches with colorful pillows and cushions, and dark-red walls painted with gold-patterned accents. There's a large tree growing inside the Kantok Restaurant and up through its wood-slatted roof. The Misty Bar is more eclectic, with colorful glass lamps and a star-shaped wood table; guests, mainly younger tourists, lounge on couches with orange and tropical print cushions in the bar's open-air room. Some areas of the resort may be undergoing renovations.
Location
In a central but quiet location, close to Patong Beach and not far from bars and restaurants
The Burasari Resort is located right across from the beach, but it's removed enough from the center of Patong to feel quiet and private. Out front, the street is rather tight with taxi traffic, and there is little parking available. Patong Beach -- with its restaurants and tourist activity -- is under a 10-minute walk away, and guests can reach the shops around Junceylon in about 15 minutes on foot. A Starbucks, a Hard Rock Cafe, and a number of Thai and international restaurants are within a five-minute walk away. The airport is a 45-minute drive from the hotel.
Rooms
Bright and modern rooms with free minibars; many with direct access to the pool
The resort offers a variety of room types. Premier Rooms are bright and cheerful, with natural wood floors, white walls and bedding, and a mix of oversize black-and-white gingham and vibrant yellow accents. The hotel also offers rooms in a variety of other styles, including the nine different, individually decorated rooms in the Mood Collection. Many rooms either open directly onto or have views of one of the pools. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, safes, minibars with free water, soft drinks, and beer (replenished daily), and electric kettles for making tea and coffee. Each room also has a woven beach bag with beach towels and flip flops for guest use. Bathrooms have walk-in showers and hairdryers.
Features
Spa with extensive treatment menu, open-air bar and restaurant, and two pools
The resort's spa offers many different treatments and massages, mani-pedis, and even special children's treatments. The Chandra and Dara Pools are lovely places to relax, but guests should be aware that lounge chairs get claimed early in the day. The on-site Kantok Restaurant serves a free buffet breakfast with continental dishes as well as Thai curries and pad thai. Misty Bar serves cocktails made with fresh ingredients such as lime juice and coconut milk, and offers free snacks during happy hour. Parking is available, but is limited -- guests with cars should secure a space through the hotel ahead of time.
