Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong – MGallery Hotel Collection

The Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong, MGallery by Sofitel makes a strong first impression: a gray stone driveway lined with bright green shrubbery leads to a small infinity pool and towering, gray concrete walls. Next comes another striking infinity pool with metallic sculptures and views of the sea and green hillsides beyond. Similar features and materials are found throughout the property, but modern touches such as electric-blue lighting and gold zig-zag-pattern wall hangings are more jarring than stylish. There are also relaxing lounge areas with couches on the roof and off the lobby. Many of the guests are couples on romantic getaways, and spend their days lounging by the pools. 

The resort is secluded and quiet, tucked against a lush hillside bordering Patong. Many guests spend the majority of their time on the property, as there are no restaurants or entertainment options in the immediate area. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to Patong, about 10 minutes away, and some guests find the trek to Patong Beach doable -- it's about 30 to 35 minutes away on foot. Phuket International Airport is a 45-minutes drive from the resort. 

Guests at the Avista Hideaway are welcomed into their rooms and suites with a platter of fresh fruit. Rooms are decorated in deep grays and creams, with matte tile floors, and private balconies with wood railings. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs with DVD players, iPod docks, kettles, minibars, and airy bathrooms with soaking tub and separate walk-in rainfall showers. Suites have bolder decor that includes blue and red lighting, inlaid wood ceiling panels, lantern-style lamps above the beds, and metallic tile on the walls and showers. Some also have beautiful private patios with wood decks and whirlpools. 

Each of the three infinity pools is lined with pale beige lounge chairs, and has a poolside bar. The main pool is elegantly tiered; the adults-only Club Vista Pool and Fluid Bar offers a wood deck and hillside views; and the Riverside Pool and Fluid Bar has a swim-up, thatched-roof bar with underwater stools. 

The Vista Restaurant is bold and modern, with neon-blue lighting and tile-work, drooping crystal chandeliers, and thick, white futuristic-style columns. The restaurant serves a free buffet breakfast in the morning and international cuisine at lunch and dinnertime. Sizzle, the open-air rooftop restaurant where snack items and cocktails are served, is more restrained, with a wood deck, orange cushioned seating, and hillside and ocean views.

The full-service spa offers Thai massages and Ayurvedic treatments, and has outdoor treatment rooms amongst the trees. There's also a library room filled with books for guests to read, as well as a game room with darts and billiards. The kids' activity area is colorfully decorated, and there's a carpeted fitness center that gets lots of natural light.  Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
