The 114-room Andaman Cannacia Resort is a romantic upper-mid-range getaway on a lush hillside with stunning sea views. Spacious rooms and suites offer balconies or terraces overlooking the beach; some have private hot tubs. There’s also a tour desk, airport transfers, spa treatments, outdoor pools with a swim-up bar, and romantic dining on-site. Thai cooking classes and yoga are available. But the steep hillside location makes it burdensome to explore the area on foot. An alternative choice may be the higher-priced Kata Beach Resort and Spa, sitting directly on the beach.
Scene
A peaceful, romantic hilltop resort with sea views from lagoon pools, and a spa
The Andaman Cannacia Resort offers couples a romantic, serene, and affordably priced retreat on the hilltop that overlooks the beautiful Kata Beach. The hotel advertises itself as an adults-only property, not allowing guests under 18 (though sometimes, children are present). The resort’s surrounding tropical landscapes and facilities provide a secluded escape from the busy Phuket town. The open-air lobby is bright and welcoming, with homey Thai furniture, yellow pillars, and wooden ceilings. A skylight is above a lovely blue-tiled fountain with crane sculptures. Brown checkered bean bag chairs and cocktail tables are positioned on a large artificial lawn that faces the Andaman Sea. The overall atmosphere is peaceful and stylish.
Location
On top of a hill that overlooks Kata Beach
The resort is located on Phuket’s southwest end. Perched on a steep hillside, the resort offers beautiful views, but the inclines make it difficult to walk to Kata Beach, though there is a free shuttle that will get passengers there in five minutes. Guests recommend renting scooters or taking a tuk tuk. Kata Plaza is a two-minute drive away. It’s a 47-minute drive to the airport. Phuket town takes 20 minutes by car. The nearest restaurants -- DaVinci Restaurant Kata Noi and Tom Yam Kung -- are a two-minute drive. The Big Buddha is 24 minutes by car. Wat Chalong is a 24-minute drive. Nai Harn Beach is a 10-minute drive.
