Bottom Line

The colossal Philadelphia Marriott Downtown takes up an entire block near City Hall. The convenient, centrally located hotel is connected via skywalk to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and offers a total of 1332 rooms and 76 suites along with newly renovated meeting spaces. Rooms are contemporary with flat-screen TVs, large desks with ergonomic chairs, and fluffy duvets -- but there is a pesky daily fee for Wi-Fi. Additional hotel perks include an indoor pool and modern fitness center. The spacious lobby has a Starbucks, laptop-friendly seating areas, and one main restaurant, called 13. While there are steep prices for parking and on-site restaurant options are limited for a hotel of this size, a central location is excellent for walking to nearby restaurants and historical attractions.

Scene

A colossal hotel with buzzing lobby bar

This 23-story building takes up a whole block near City Hall with entrances from each side. The main circular entrance is in the rear next to parking garages, while the front entrance leads out to bustling Market Street. There is an even mix of office workers and tourists in the area, and the Starbucks, attached to the hotel, receives a lot of foot traffic. The lobby is a spacious area for meet-ups, while the Circ Lounge -- taking up the center of the room -- is the perfect place to set up the laptop. This hotel only has one restaurant option and a lobby bar, meaning that with a hotel of this size, both are frequently busy (and some complain, too loud).
