The Hyatt Regency Perth is a large, 367-room hotel overlooking Swan River in the city center. While the five-pearl property is conference- and wedding-ready with six event spaces, it's also family-friendly, with babysitting services and plenty of kids playing in the heated outdoor pool. Rooms are spacious and offer views of the river or the pool. Club Level rooms give access to the Club Lounge, which offers free food, drinks, and Wi-Fi access, which is free throughout the hotel. Conveniently located, the Hyatt Regency Perth is close to shopping and dining; the scenic Foreshore River Reserve is about a five-minute walk away. But some travelers may prefer The Richardson Hotel & Spa, which has similar amenities on a smaller scale.
Scene
Large convention hotel with scenic river views
The Hyatt Regency Perth is a behemoth of a city center hotel. From the curb, it welcomes guests with a long, grandiose canopy leading to the main entrance that gives way to a striking, white atrium. The Conservatory Lounge is in the center, marked by a towering and impressive fountain. All floors of the hotel overlook this central space, where travelers are often found milling about. In the evening, the corridors are bathed in amber lighting, and the atrium ceiling is brightened, making its geometric pattern stand out against the night sky. The common areas are modern but not especially bold or stylish. The breakfast room, however, is brought to life with a picturesque view of the palm tree-lined Swan River. Windows in the area take up nearly the full height of the wall, flooding the area with natural light.
Location
Surrounded by parks with easy access to public transport
The hotel has a prime location overlooking Swan River, and is a six-minute walk to the Foreshore River Reserve and Langley Park. Both the Perth Mint and the WACA Ground sports arena are less than 10 minutes away on foot, and the King’s Park War Memorial is an 11-minute drive. There are plenty of shopping and dining choices in the area immediately surrounding the hotel. Located in the city center, the hotel is accessible to mass transit -- there's a bus stop right outside on Adelaide Terrace. Perth Airport is a 13-minute drive away, without traffic.
Rooms
Spacious rooms and panoramic views of Swan River

Streamlined platform beds, Lucite lamps, and decorative ceramics add tasteful touches. Bathrooms have chic, stone vanities and massaging showerheads, plus organic toiletries, slippers, and light waffle-weave robes. Many guests prefer rooms on high floors for their panoramic views of Swan River or the pool. All rooms have work stations, and larger suites have separate living rooms with sofas and an additional TV.
Features
Several dining choices on-site, a fitness center, sauna, plus babysitting and spa services
The Hyatt Regency Perth doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the number of dining and event spaces -- there are four restaurants and six event spaces. La Strada is a bright little coffee terrace that serves deli sandwiches and pastries, and the Cafe has three interactive cooking stations with chefs preparing items at each stop. Joe’s Oriental Diner has an open kitchen, and features dishes from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. Both the Conservatory Bar and the Plain Street Bar offer a variety of spirits, but Plain Street Bar also serves pizza and burgers. The hotel is family-friendly and offers babysitting services, and keeps a variety of child-care items on hand. Kids are often found playing in the heated outdoor pool, which has a covered area with plenty of lounge seating.
