Bottom Line

Just a 10-minute walk from the beach, the mid-range Pattaya Blue Sky offers a good value in northern Pattaya. Simple in terms of decorations, the 63 contemporary rooms come with balconies, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. An appealing rooftop swimming pool with a sundeck, all-day restaurant that serves Thai and international fare, and a fitness center are on-site, but there are no bar or spa. Travelers looking for a resort directly on the beach and in the thick of the Pattaya action, should compare rates with Baboona BeachFront Living Hotel, though it lacks a pool.

Scene

Sparsely decorated, modern hotel in a convenient location

Pattaya Blue Sky is popular with groups of friends, solo travelers, and couples looking for a quiet place to lay their head, but not at the expense of being far from the action. Guests are greeted at a bright and modern lobby with a lofty ceiling, L-shaped cushioned rattan couches, and glass-topped tables, plus a few marine touches such as paintings and sculptures of ships. Just like the hotel’s public areas, the rooms are modern but sparsely decorated, outfitted in a largely neutral-tone palette with a few splashes of red.

Location

On a quiet street, but only a 10-minute walk to restaurants and the beach

Located on a quiet side street in northern Pattaya, the hotel is a short walk from countless restaurants, bars, and shops. It is also around a 10-minute walk from Pattaya beach, Walking Street, and the Central Marina mall. The famous Alcazar cabaret show is also just around the corner. Meanwhile U-Tapao International Airport is a 45-minute drive away, while Suvrnabhumi Airport is a 90-minute drive away. The hotel offers free parking.

Rooms

Simple, contemporary rooms with flat-screen TVs and kettles, but firm mattresses

All rooms at Pattaya Blue Sky come with the same contemporary furnishings and amenities. Simply decorated 344-square-foot (32-square-meter) rooms feature neutral hues with splashes of red in the form of curtains, throw pillows, and armchairs. Balconies with rattan chairs and tables come standard and provide views over the neighborhood. In terms of amenities, rooms come with air-conditioning, 42-inch flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, in-room safes, mini-fridges, coffee- and tea-making facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Meanwhile, bathrooms feature a blend of white and brown tiles, granite countertops, rainfall showers, slippers, and toiletries. On the downside, some guests have complained that the mattresses are too firm.

Features

Rooftop pool, all-day restaurant, and free Wi-Fi

Although guests have to walk 10 minute to reach the beach, they can take a dip on-site at the hotel’s rooftop swimming pool. It's surrounded by a sundeck with loungers and umbrellas, as well as large potted plants and decorative stone walls. Although there's no spa, a small fitness center has up-to-date weights and cardio equipment, and city vistas. Located on the first floor, adjacent to the lobby, the hotel’s all-day restaurant specializes in Thai and international cuisines. Breakfast is not included in all rates. A small internet corner is available, and free Wi-Fi is accessible across the property.
