Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range Page 10 Hotel is in central Pattaya, a five-minute walk from Pattaya Beach. The 79 rooms are contemporary, with built-in wooden furnishings and private balconies, and bathrooms have bathtubs and separate rainfall showers. We did spot a good deal of wear throughout, though, and guest room decor is basic. The hotel's rooftop swimming pool and poolside bar is a plus, and there is a small fitness facility as well as a stylish restaurant serving an extensive breakfast buffet for a fee. The hotel doesn't have a spa, but massage services can be arranged.

Scene

Contemporary hotel with intriguing design features in public areas

This hotel has aspirations of being a chic, design hotel, but it's only half of the way there. The hotel lobby is impressive, with high ceilings, retro armchairs, a red shag rug, a solid white reflective reception counter, and chic wood panel walls that match the staircase. It's a simple and minimalistic space, with a bit more depth than the design once inside of the hotel's guest rooms. Cross Bar and Bistro matches the lobby's style, with black-and-white faux rows of books, a striking brick wall, and a massive wall of windows. There's a bar next to the rooftop pool that's a popular place for guests to hang out as well. This hotel draws a large number of solo travelers, though some families, couples, and business guests pass through as well.

Location

Located on a buzzing street, within walking distance of Pattaya Beach and shopping

The hotel is located on Soi 10 Pattaya 2nd Road, with an abundance of restaurants and bars just around the corner along the city's main strip. Guests are a nine-minute walk from the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum and art enthusiasts are a 12-minute tuk-tuk drive from the colorful, hands-on Art in Paradise Museum. Shopoholics are a six-minute walk from Central Festival Shopping Mall. Guests are a four-minute walk from Pattaya Beach and a 15-minute drive from the awe-inspiring Sanctuary of Truth temple. For night life, Walking Street is full of bars and clubs, a six-minute drive from the hotel. Utapao Pattaya Airport is the closest, about 50 minutes away by car, though Bangkok is just under two hours away and has two major airports as well.

Rooms

Generously sized rooms with balconies

The hotel features 79 rooms that include Junior, Deluxe, and Superior Studio Rooms, as well as the exclusive Suite 8o8, located on the top floor of the hotel. All accommodation is modern, with built-in wooden furniture, private balconies, crisp white linens, and ample storage space for guest luggage. Rooms have a simple mustard and white color scheme, with light wood laminate or dark tile floors. The decor, though, is simple and wall art is limited to one piece per room, giving the spaces an austere rather than minimalist character. Additionally, rooms show a good bit of wear and tear that ranges from scratches and missing veneer on furniture to warped baseboards. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, coffee and tea-making facilities, safes, air-conditioning, LCD TVs with satellite channels, bathrobes, slippers, boutique style toiletries, umbrellas, minibars, hair-dryers. Bathrooms are generous in size, with black tile floors and granite vanities and accents, as well as bathtubs and separate rainfall showers. There was plenty of shoddy paintwork around door frames and rusty edges along the shower glass in the bathrooms as well. Noise from traffic and neighboring bars can also be heard in some rooms.

Features

A rooftop swimming pool, small fitness room, and on-site bars and eateries

One of the stand-out features here is the hotel's rooftop pool. It feels a bit Bangkok, and is a stylish place for a dip that sits adjacent to a pool bar and terrace, with white wicker seating and white marble tables. A buffet breakfast with hot and cold options is served at Cross Bar and Bistro, which also serves lunch and dinner. The fitness room has a selection of free weights and limited cardio equipment, but it is small. The hotel reception is manned 24/7, and features several guest services which include currency exchange, in-room massages, laundry, dry cleaning, ironing, tour bookings, and shuttle services, that can be arranged for a fee. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi and on-site underground parking.
