Bottom Line

Mercure Pattaya Hotel is a three-pearl chain hotel that’s less than a 15-minute walk to the beach. The swimming pool, hot and cold breakfast, bar, restaurant, and free local shuttle are great attributes to the property. However, the 247 rooms are quite dated with cleanliness problems and maintenance issues. The vacationing clientele who can look past these issues will appreciate flat-screen TVs, kettles, and minibars in all rooms. Premier Inn Pattaya is a safer bet with similar amenities, pricing, and more up-to-date rooms.

Scene

Chain hotel with a functional design and a clientele of families, couples, and friends

Mercure Pattaya Hotel occupies a cream building surrounded by parking spaces and palm trees. Inside, the scene is contemporary with a functional, chain-hotel atmosphere. Floors are made of white tile and there’s a simple wooden front desk and benches with blue padding and white and blue pillows for guests to lounge on. Some Thai elements can be seen in the hotel such as with the shrine in the lobby and a book exchange that sits between two statues. Compared to other Mercure hotels across the world, this particular property is less stylish and dated, especially in the rooms. Clientele are a mixture of families, couples, and friends looking for a decently priced place to stay that’s within walking distance to the beach.

Location

Less than a 15-minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and shopping

Mercure Pattaya Hotel has a decent location in this beach town. It’s a 14-minute walk to the closest beach, which is a bit crowded, and therefore Jomtien Beach, about a 16-minute drive away, might be a better choice. The area is filled with restaurants on surrounding streets and shopping, like a mall that’s an 11-minute walk away. The hotel has a free shuttle that takes and picks up guests within 350 feet of the hotel. As far as attractions, Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is a 35-minute drive away. The Sanctuary of Truth takes 24 minutes to reach by car. It’s an hour’s drive to U-Tapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport.

Rooms

Dated rooms with flat-screen TVs, kettles, and minibars

Guest rooms are reasonably sized with a contemporary, but dated, look. Rooms have a minimalist design with white tile floors, dark wood furniture, beds with white bedding, headboards with purple floral designs, and little else in the way of decoration. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs, safes, minibars, kettles, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms have furnished balconies with pool or city views. Family Suites include bunk beds and PlayStation consoles. Bathrooms are small with showers, hairdryers, and toiletries. According to guest complaints, some rooms have cleanliness issues such as stains and maintenance problems.

Features

Swimming pool, pool bar, massages, restaurant, breakfast, lounge bar, library, meeting room, and free Wi-Fi and parking

This Mercure has a fair selection of amenities starting with an outdoor swimming pool with a children’s section that is surrounded by loungers and serviced by a pool bar with drinks and Italian cuisine. There’s no gym, but the hotel offers massages upon request. Dining options are plentiful with International and Thai buffets at M Café. It also provides a hot and cold breakfast buffet in the mornings that can be included in room rates. Aqua Bar is the hotel’s lounge bar which provides drinks, a stage, pool, and foosball. There are public computers in the lobby and Wi-Fi is free. A single fully-equipped meeting room is available for business travelers. Parking is free.
