Scene
Striking hotel with a relaxing and friendly vibe
The Hotel Baraquda Pattaya is a luxury boutique with a striking sea-themed design. This is immediately noticeable once inside the lobby, which features a wave-inspired white wall, wood floors, modern beige seating arrangements, and relaxing blue and silver colors (the colors of barracudas). The floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the pool deck, which is reminiscent of a canal. The sea-centric decor carries into the wood-filled dining areas and rooms with blue and white accents. The only departure is in the main restaurant SEA, where colorful Thai-inspired murals. Guests -- who are typically couples and groups of friends -- describe the atmosphere as intimate and friendly. The stylish interiors and central location make it an excellent option for those who don't mind not being directly along the water.

Rooms
Chic, contemporary nautical design, glass-walled bathrooms, and outdoor spaces
Hotel Baraquda has Deluxe Twin and King Rooms, as well as Baraquda and Grand Baraquda Suites. The Baraquda Suite has a round jetted tub, while the Grand Baraquda Suite distinguishes itself as a two-story, loft-style unit, also with a whirlpool tub in an open bathroom concept. The Deluxe Rooms have this to some degree -- the bathrooms are simply separated with a glass wall that has a curtain if the need for privacy arises. Though sinks are stationed outside the glass walls. All rooms continue the same contemporary, nautical-themed design of the hotel with seashell-shaped rugs, blue and white decor, and under-the-sea photographs above the beds. The beds have backs that are curved around the sides, which are supposed to resemble the decks of ships. Standard amenities include flat-screen TVs, minibars, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and air-conditioning. Suites add pod espresso machines. Inside the closets, guests will find bathrobes, slippers, and safes. Note, however, that lower-category rooms lack much storage. Toiletries and hairdryers are provided. All rooms have unfurnished outdoor spaces, many overlooking the pool but some with poor building views.

Lovely pool, multiple restaurants and bars, and a spa

Next to the pool is the spa, which offers a range of treatments including couples' massages. A small but modern fitness center has a handful of cardio and strength-training equipment and free weights, plus floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the pool area. Additionally, meeting rooms and a business center are available, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. The main SEA Restaurant is open all day, serving Asian cuisine and fresh seafood. Nauti Cafe is an outdoor pavilion serving pizza, burgers, and curry, as well as pastries, coffee, and beer. The rooftop Sunset Lounge is located on a big outdoor deck with silver-colored seating and glass railings, not to mention excellent vistas. It serves food and drinks alongside live music on occasion.
