Best Western Plus Black Oak

The Best Western Plus Black Oak is situated in a two-floor motel-style building that has a rustic, Wine Country look. Guests spend much of their time out and about visiting wineries or other attractions, particularly in summer peak season. When they’re on-site, they tend to gather at the year-round outdoor pool and hot tub. Affordable rates and the “children 12 and under stay free” policy make the property a nice fit for families with children, and the hotel also draws couples, especially on weekends. During the week, it's a popular pick for contractors doing work in the area.

The hotel is located just off U.S. Highway 101 where it meets State Route 46. The Riverside & 24th bus stop is right outside the hotel, and the Paso Robles Event Center (host of the California Mid-State Fair and other events) is across the street. A supermarket and several fast food restaurants are within a short walk of the hotel, and the Pioneer Museum, with its 19th-century schoolhouse, is a little more than five minutes on foot. The center of Paso Robles town is five minutes by car or 15 minutes by bus, where guests will find plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops, plus a movie theater, park, and the Amtrak station. The area is known for its hot springs, and the hotel is a seven-minute drive from the River Oaks Hot Spring Spa. Several wineries are also within five to 15 minutes by car, and area attractions including Ravine Water Park, Barney Schwartz Park, and Vinas Robles Amphitheatre are all about a five-minute drive. Estrella Warbird Museum is slightly farther, and can be reached in nine minutes by car, and Lake Nacimiento is about a 25-minute drive. Paso Robles Municipal Airport is a little less than a 10 minutes by car, and San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport takes 37 minutes.

The spacious units at Best Western Plus Black Oak have a traditional, dated look, but they're pleasant enough done in warm tones, and they're comfortable and well-maintained. Some units have recliners and desks, or activity tables and chairs, in addition to sleeper sofas. One Suite features its own private garden area. Beds all feature high-quality Simmons mattresses. All units are also well-equipped, with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, 37 or 40-inch flat-screen TVs (46 inches in suites), clock radios with MP3 connectors, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. Another highlight is the on-site diner, which serves American comfort food for lunch and dinner, and while the breakfast buffet costs extra, the hotel hands out $5 vouchers for the a la carte menu. Other amenities include a meeting room, business center, 24-hour front desk, and free parking (with space for large vehicles) and two electric car charging stations.
