The Lodge at the Mountain Village by ASRL

The Lodge at the Mountain Village is part of a cluster of buildings with a modern, ski lodge aesthetic -- dark-red vinyl siding, slanted roofs with chimneys, and lots of sleek windows for gazing out at the adjacent slopes. The property is part of Mountain Village, which sits at the base of Park City Resort, and has a festive, communal vibe in high season, with guests bustling amongst the ski- and snowboard-rental shops, boutiques, a food shop, and some restaurants. A large ice skating rink is at the center of the complex, lined with picnic tables, bright red Adirondack chairs, and with views of the gentle slopes. Inside the hotel, it's a bare-bones operation, with worn brown carpet, bland wooden stairwells, and a small underground lobby with a maroon leather couch before a gas fireplace. The pool is nice and has a lively -- though not relaxing -- vibe in summertime when it's frequented by children. The real atmosphere is outside the hotel near the ski slopes, but otherwise it's rather uninspired. Guests include families and groups of friends who've come for the skiing and convenient village-like setup. 

The hotel is surrounded by the Park City ski slopes on one side, and by ski-rental shops and restaurants on the other; Pig Pen Saloon and Bar is a few steps away, within Mountain Village. It’s possible to ski directly from the lodge to the Payday chairlift and vice versa. A large, well-lit parking lot faces the hotel, and the free town shuttle stops here regularly in the winter, but not as frequently in the summer; the property also has its own on-demand shuttle service in high season. The town of Park City, including Main Street with its many shops, galleries, restaurants, and bars is about a mile away -- a 20-minute walk, five-minute drive, or about five to 10 minutes by shuttle. Canyons Resort is about 30 minutes away via shuttle, or 10 minutes by car. Deer Valley Resort is a 10-minute drive or 15-minute shuttle. Salt Lake City Airport can be reached by car in 40 minutes. 

There are some standard hotel rooms with mini-fridges and coffeemakers, but most units at the Lodge are complete one- to four-bedroom condos with full kitchens and living rooms with fireplaces. Most condos are individually owned and thus vary greatly in quality and decor; many have not been updated recently, and have shabby carpet and furniture, and older appliances. Premium units have been updated with more upscale furniture, flat-screen TVs, plush bedding, and more modern kitchens and bathrooms. Although there is free Wi-Fi access in all units, it's most reliable in units closest to the lobby, and is generally spotty. Many units have gas fireplaces, but in some cases they're unusable because they emit a strong scent of burning metal when lit. Each condo has at least two bathrooms, at least one of which has a shower or shower/tub combo. All units have views of the ski slopes and surrounding mountains, or the Mountain Village. 

The ski-in/ski-out Lodge offers free underground parking and Wi-Fi access, though it's spotty in many areas. Other features that are free for guests include the large, heated indoor/outdoor pool, a couple of hot tubs, sauna, and fitness room with modern cardio machines and weight equipment. There are multiple meeting and conference rooms available, including ski-in/ski-out rooms, and space for up to 300 guests. In the lobby, a computer and printer are available for guest use. The Lodge offers an on-demand shuttle service to town, but only in the winter high season. The front desk is open 24 hours. Although there are many restaurants nearby, there is no restaurant or bar inside the Lodge.
