Bottom Line

The 100-suite Hotel Park City is an upscale, romantic, and family-friendly retreat located on an 18-hole golf course. There are an on-site Ruth’s Chris Steak House, a bar, a spa, a modern gym, and an outdoor pool with a hot tub. Suites feel like private cottages, with flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes, and patio hot tubs. However, the hotel imposes a mandatory resort fee. Those looking for ski-in, ski-out access might want to consider the similarly priced Westgate Park City, though its Canyons location may be a downside for those who prefer proximity to Park City or Deer Valley.

Scene

Upscale golf-course lodge with mountain views that attracts vacationing couples and families

The Hotel Park City is an upscale mountain property on an 18-hole golf course that appeals primarily to couples, but also to families who want to be close to the ski slopes. The pitched roof driveway entrance is flanked by two moose statues and set against a lovely mountain backdrop. High wooden beamed ceilings, tall windows that face the wooded landscape, a stone-faced log fireplace, and a grand piano in the lobby lounge create a romantic atmosphere. Free Starbucks coffee is served in the lobby. There are also an elevator and a flight of wooden stairs covered in green patterned carpeting that continues into the hallways. At the back of the hotel is a wraparound terrace, offering patio furniture, fire pits, and mountain and pool views.

Location

On the Park City Golf Club’s greens, within a five-minute free shuttle ride of the Park City Mountain Resort slopes

The hotel is in Northern Utah on the 18-hole Park City Golf Club’s course overlooking a pond and the mountains. The street outside is busy, and there's a convenience store a one-minute walk away. There are also markets, restaurants, a Starbucks, a Domino’s Pizza, a Rite Aid, a Sports Authority, and a Burger King within a five- to 10-minute walk. Downtown Park City is a four-minute drive. It’s a four-minute drive to the Alpine Coaster, while the Utah Olympic Park takes 13 minutes by car. The hotel’s free shuttle goes to the Park City Mountain Resort in four minutes and Deer Valley Resort in seven minutes. Salt Lake City is just over half an hour away.

Rooms

Suites with kitchens, fireplaces, patio hot tubs, and attractive lodge-like decor

The hotel offers suites and cottages with gas fireplaces, sofa beds, flat-screen TVs, CD/DVD players, Bose sound systems, safes, and washer/dryer combos. High wooden-beamed ceilings, tan painted walls, and leather furniture in living rooms give rooms a lodge-like feeling. Kitchens or kitchenettes come with mini-fridges, microwaves, dishwashers, coffeemakers, and ovens and/or stoves. Patios with hot tubs face the pool, the golf course, or the mountains. Bathrooms have marble finishings, whirlpool tubs, rainfall showers, and scales, and slippers and bathrobes are provided. Two-bedroom Cottage Luxury Suites are enormous, and have two sofa beds, six fireplaces, four flat-screen TVs, a kitchen, two balconies, three bathrooms, and a six-person hot tub. Two-bedroom Governor's Suites, Presidential Suites, and Penthouse Suites also have multiple bathrooms, TVs, and bedrooms.

Features

Meeting rooms, a business corner, a gym, and fitness classes , a spa, a heated pool and Ruth's Chris Steak House

The spa has steam rooms, saunas, whirlpool hot tubs, and mountain forest decor (expect both wall murals and oil paintings of trees). The hotel also offers a heated outdoor pool and hot tub that's surrounded by a deck with cushioned lounge chairs. The modern gym is spacious, with up-to-date cardio equipment (machines have individual TVs), free weights, four wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, towels, a water cooler, and a vending machine. Yoga, Zumba, and Pilates classes are also offered. The hotel has a branch of steakhouse chain Ruth's Chris Steak House on-site, which has intimate booth seating, a fireplace, and mountain views. The Bandannas Bar and Grill is causal, with flat-screen TVs and packaged snacks for sale. There are also six meeting rooms, ranging from the Park and Thaynes Boardrooms, each of which can fit up to 12 people to a ballroom big enough for 250 guests. Audiovisual equipment, a stage, a dance floor, and wedding services are available. There's also a business center with a computer and a printer and both Wi-Fi and parking are included in the tacked-on resort fee.
