Goldener Hirsch Inn

Housed in a white building with light-wood trim, the Golderner Hirsch Inn is an Austrian-themed ski-in, ski-out property occupied primarily by skiers in the winter and outdoor sports enthusiasts in the summer months. The Austrian theme is even more obvious once inside the four-story property. White walls are decorated with alpine memorabilia, and ceilings are bedecked with wooden skis and an alphorn, and a large antler chandelier crowning the space. The seating areas feature old-fashioned upholstered armchairs and a couch, with a mint-green color scheme that extends to a beautiful carved-wood shelf filled with curios. A separate, carpeted lounge space offers additional cozy couches and cushioned wooden chairs for post-ski relaxing. Although most guests are tourists -- namely couples and families -- there is meeting space, making it a viable option for business retreats.

This ski-in, ski-out hotel is located high above Park City and surrounded by other hotels and businesses. It's right next to the chairlifts for Deer Valley Ski Resort, where many of the 2002 Winter Olympics events took place. This area is busy and safe, packed with tourists in the summer and winter. There are lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. It's under 10 minutes by car to downtown Park City, the Park City Historical Society, and the Kimball Art Center. Getting to the Park City Golf Course takes around 10 minutes by car. The Salt Lake City International Airport is about a 50-minute drive away. 

There are 20 rooms at the Goldener Hirsch Inn, all decorated in homey, Austrian-themed style with upscale touches. Hand-carved wooden furniture from Austria may include carved beds with matching nightstands, and pretty armoires with painted panels. Rooms are carpeted in gray or pale green, and have comfortable king-size beds with feather blankets, Frette linens, and down comforters. Most rooms also have sofas or upholstered chairs and some have small desks. Many rooms also have private furnished balconies and wood-burning fireplaces. All have flat-screen TVs with DVD players, iHome docking stations, and free Wi-Fi, as well as humidifiers, coffeemakers, and minibars. 

Bathrooms feature travertine floors and showers, granite countertops, and shower/tub combos; slipper, hairdryers, and Aveda toiletries are also provided. Rooms types range from entry-level Lobby Bedrooms up to large Grande Suites with separate living areas. Room configuration and size varies, even within categories, and some may feel more cramped than others. Guests also report that Lobby Bedrooms tend to be noisy, particularly those facing the parking lot. Also note that rooms lack air-conditioning and can be hot during the summer. 

The Goldener Hirsch Inn is a fairly small boutique property with limited amenities. All rooms get free breakfast: European-style buffet in winter, and a continental spread in summer. The hotel restaurant also serves lunch and dinner, with Germanic items such as strudel and wienerschnitzel, plus a popular fondue. For recreation, there are two hot tubs, one inside and the other outside, in addition to a sauna and a tiny fitness room -- though it only has one treadmill and a stationary bike. There's no spa on-site, but the hotel can arrange services at one of the area's spas or beauty salons; in-room treatments and services are also available. There's a basic meeting room available for use, and the restaurant has a private dining room and can host parties and various events. The hotel offers concierge services, including airport transfers, area dining reservations, sports and theater ticket booking, and babysitting for a fee. A gift shop just off the lobby sells souvenirs and items such as jewelry and chinaware. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and on-site parking is free.
