New Hotel Roblin La Madeleine

Located in an elegant and historic white building with window boxes, wrought iron Juliet balconies, and intricate details, the New Hotel Roblin La Madeleine announces its Parisian, Old World style immediately. Inside, the decor perfectly combines vintage details with modern updates to create a charming style that’s sophisticated and welcoming. In the lobby, hardwood floors meet dark gray walls and a bright white inset ceiling with chandeliers. Off the lobby, a sitting area offers exquisite architectural details such as molded ceilings, while rich leather armchairs help to create the refined ambience of a country mansion. The hotel features vintage finds throughout, like framed lithographs, candelabras, and antique furniture. The theme is “the past revisited,” though it could be renamed “period Paris,” with each room named after a different Parisian street, and vintage maps and photos of the city on the walls. Its location makes it a hotspot for tourists who can afford the price, and the charming atmosphere is especially ideal for couples.

Situated on a quiet and charming one-way side street on the Right Bank of the Seine and the eastern edge of the popular 8th arrondissement in the heart of Paris, the hotel is well located for guests who want to take in the city’s sights. The hotel is just a one-minute walk from Eglise La Madeleine, a two-minute walk from the nearest metro, and within walking distance of the Seine and the Champs-Elysees. Other hotspots, like the Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay, are reachable on foot in 20 minutes or less. Plenty of high-end shopping establishments and eateries are also located within blocks of the hotel. There is an underground parking lot next door, but it costs an extra fee. Rooms vary in decor and size, but all are charming and sophisticated, with vintage touches and modern conveniences. Each room is named after a famous street in Paris, which lends its style to the decor. The Boulevard Saint-Germain rooms are the smallest, with the atmosphere of an old library, featuring dark tones and worn leather accents. The Place des Vosges rooms relate to the Marais District and feature a floral accent wall and shiny silver flourishes throughout. The Avenue Fosch Luxe Room offers sophisticated luxury with white walls, velvety light gray accents, a marble faux fireplace, and chandelier lighting. 

All rooms are air conditioned and have hardwood floors, a work desk and lamp, an armchair or sitting area, a flat screen television, and free Wi-Fi. An iron and ironing board as well as a safe are also included. Rooms come equipped with a mini-bar and a Nespresso coffeemaker, but each coffee pod costs extra. Bathrooms match the style of the room in smaller measure, and all are modern and well-maintained. Most have stand-up showers that feature a large showerhead and a hand-held shower wand, though Luxe Rooms have a separate shower and tub. Bathrooms come with bathrobes, slippers, a magnifying glass for make-up, a hairdryer, and luxurious individual toiletries from Hermès.

The Standard Rooms are small -- though their size is typical for Paris, and the well-thought layout offers guests a bit of extra space. Overall, though, guests are satisfied with the rooms, finding them comfortable, in like-new condition, and spotlessly clean. Front-facing rooms on higher floors offer better views (guests can even catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower from some rooms), but light sleepers should consider the quieter courtyard-facing rooms.

The R Cafe Paris, the hotel’s restaurant, is located in a long and thin room set with rows of tables and chairs. Its style is simple but refined, with black leather chairs, a red accent wall, and another wall covered entirely in a Parisian map. It offers seasonal selections and French cuisine. The hotel offers a breakfast, but it doesn’t come with the room rate. Room service is also available. 

The English-style bar is more stylish than the restaurant, with the ambience of a vintage hunting lodge, decorated with red leather arm chairs, rich red walls with molded details, and hunting-themed framed lithographs on the wall. Both the restaurant and bar are closed in August, the typical Parisian vacation month, though the restaurant still serves daily breakfast. 

For business guests, the hotel offers photocopying and faxing services at reception for an extra fee. The hotel also has a a simple but sophisticated boardroom-style meeting venue with seats for 12, a screen, and a projector. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
