Hotel Les Matins de Paris & Spa

Les Matins de Paris & Spa is in a classic Parisian building with detailed moulding and a handsome gray and black front entrance. A long hallway, covered alternately in mirrors and large black-and-white photographs, leads to a small reception area with a desk and a loveseat under a skylight. The rest of the first floor is a breakfast room with a tiny but attractive wine bar done in bright hues like aqua and purple, with parquet wood floors. A spa with an indoor pool can be found downstairs in a mosaic-tiled basement. It's no surprise guests are mostly couples, though the wine bar is sometimes booked for business meetings. 

The hotel is located in the 9th Arrondissement in Paris's theater district. The Theatre La Bruyere and the Theatre Saint-Georges are within a few minutes' walk from the hotel, and the world-famous Moulin Rouge cabaret is about an 11-minute walk away. There are plenty of bars, cafes, and restaurants within a short walk, too. One of Paris’s major attractions, the spectacular Basilica of Sacré-Coeur, is a 14-minute walk away. There, visitors can see the Place du Tertre and get a panoramic view of the city. Reaching Left Bank sights, such as the Eiffel Tower and Luxembourg Gardens, takes a little more than 30 minutes on the metro. Gare du Nord is a 20-minute metro ride. Conveniently, the Saint-Georges metro station is a four-minute walk away from the hotel, and gets to the Champs Elysees in less than 15 minutes. It's roughly 30 minutes in the car to Charles de Gaulle Airport, and about a 40-minute drive to Orly Airport. 

Contemporary guest rooms at Les Matins de Paris & Spa have gray carpeting and neutral walls, with black furniture and trim, livened up by colorful fabrics with bold, illustrative patterns. Most rooms are doubles, but they vary in size, though all have high bedside tables that double as tiny desks or vanities, with chairs and stools. Built-in wardrobes and shelves provide a little space for hanging clothes, and house stocked minibars. Standard amenities include AC, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, safes, and free Wi-Fi, but units lack kettles. Some units have furnished private balconies, and there are two top-floor Deluxe Rooms with views of Sacré-Cœur. The sleek, modern bathrooms are a highlight, with bright wall tiles, walk-in rainfall showers, heated towel racks, and Fragonard bath products. Units range from 150 to 215 square feet. 

The star feature at this boutique hotel is the small basement spa decorated in mosaic tile, with a jetted pool and a hammam, along with a treatment room and showers. Upstairs, the breakfast room and wine bar are separated by a partition, but they're essentially the same space. Breakfast is available for a fee; either a simple continental option or a richer buffet of pastries, seasonal fruit, yogurt, vegetables, cold cuts, cheese, and smoked salmon. The bar is booked on occasion as a meeting room, and it keeps limited hours but hosts a daily happy hour with cheese and snacks. Wi-Fi is free throughout.
