The upper-middle-range Hotel Villa Saxe Eiffel is
situated in a residential Left Bank neighborhood that's a little off the beaten
path for tourists. The only major nearby attractions are Les Invalides and
Napoleon's Tomb, a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The 48 rooms are sharp, and come with comfortable beds,
free Wi-Fi, MP3 docks, and flat-screen TVs, though some rooms are small. The hotel also offers a bar and an
ample breakfast buffet (for a fee). It's a good choice for
travelers wanting a stylish boutique hotel, but the Hotel Lumen Paris Louvre is only slightly pricier and far more central, though it lacks a fitness room and sauna.
Scene
Ultra-modern hotel with sleek interiors
Built in 2014, the Villa Saxe Eiffel is housed in a
six-floor white building with a deliberately weathered steel facade. Guests enter a sleek, contemporary lobby with tan leather
sofas, gold-colored overhead lights, a geometric print rug, magazine rack, and
reception desk topped with flowers. Other features of the interior include a
visually striking winding staircase as well as modern art and sculpture. Guests gather in the breakfast room and lounge, an
inviting space with an atrium ceiling and ultra-modern furnishings with brown and tan hues throughout -- the space also doubles as the hotel's bar. An outdoor terrace features tables and chairs,
trees, flowers, and shrubbery. The hotel tends to attract tourists, who
appreciate the stylish rooms, breakfast buffet, sauna, and quiet Left Bank
location.
Location
Residential Left Bank location, a 10-minute walk from Napoleon's Tomb
The hotel is on the Left Bank in a residential corner of the 7th Arrondissement, next to UNESCO's headquarters. The immediate area isn't ideal for tourists, since there are few attractions, shops,
and restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel. Guests need to walk or take the
metro to get to more exciting areas. The hotel is a seven-minute walk north of
the Sevres Lecourbe Metro station and a seven-minute walk northeast of the
Metro Segur Metro station. Les Invalides, with Napoleon's Tomb and the Army
Museum, is a ten-minute walk north, while the Rodin Museum is a 15-minute walk
northeast of the Villa. The Champ de Mars Park is a 10-minute walk northwest of
the hotel, and the Eiffel Tower, Seine River, and Quai Branly Museum are a
20-minute walk northwest (10 minutes by taxi). Le Bon Marche department store is a 15-minute walk
east. It's a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk southeast to reach the area with
Montparnasse Tower, Montparnasse Cemetery, and Gare Montparnasse train station.
Charles de Gaulle Airport is a 30-minute drive northeast of the Villa Saxe
Eiffel, while Orly Airport is about 30 minutes in the opposite direction.
Rooms
Modern boutique rooms with MP3 docks, free Wi-Fi, and flat-screen TVs
The 48 all non-smoking rooms at Villa Saxe Eiffel are
arranged on six floors. Rooms come in Villa Classique, Villa Superior, Villa
Deluxe, and Junior Suite categories. Rooms are not overly luxurious, but they
have a stylish and contemporary look. Decor varies, though a gold, silver, or
weathered steel motif with a neutral tan and white base runs throughout, much like the rest of the hotel. Pops of steel blue appear in the Junior Suite, and wall art throughout is sepia-tone prints of Paris iconography. Rooms feature
handcrafted furniture in trendy light tones and plush beds with warm-tone velvet bedding and high-end linens. Sizes range from 161 to 409 square feet, so some rooms are
small, but small hotel rooms are common for Paris where space is at a premium. All rooms are clean and in good condition; they also get
decent natural light and feature double-glazed windows that keep them quiet.
All rooms come with air-conditioning, safes, minibars, coffee/tea makers, free Wi-Fi, iPhone docks (with connectors for other MP3 players), and flat-screen TVs with
satellite and international channels. Some rooms have balconies and/or evening
turndown service, and Junior Suites come with fresh fruit and separate living areas.
Bathrooms feature natural stone, are well lighted, and generally spacious, with
good counter space and toiletries. Villa Classique bathrooms do not have bathtubs.
Features
Sauna, fitness room, massage chair, and breakfast buffet
Hotel Villa Saxe Eiffel offers guests a small fitness
room with a rowing machine, stair-stepper, a few free weights, yoga mat, wall
mirror, and large flat-screen TV. Next to the fitness room guests is an electric massage chair set next to aromatherapy candles
and a stereo. The hotel also has a wood sauna and shower
with therapy jets. The hotel sets out an ample breakfast spread in
the morning, featuring hot eggs, bacon, cold cuts, cheeses, croissants, breads,
cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juice, though it's not included with room rates. Breakfast can be taken in the room
upon request. The lounge bar has a sommelier on hand and serves a wide selection of beer, wines, spirits, juice, and soft drinks. At the corner of the lounge is a
business center with Mac computer and printer. The hotel also features a
24-hour front desk, concierge service, baggage service, and nearby public
parking (for a fee). Wi-Fi is free throughout and airport transportation can be arranged (for a fee).
