Bottom Line

The 72-room Hotel Royal Saint-Honore is a
mid-range property conveniently situated on the prestigious shopping street it
takes its name from, Rue Saint-Honore, and a short walk away from several top
sights such as the Louvre Museum. The rooms (and two-room Suites) are modestly elegant and have flat-screen TVs, minibars, small desks, and
marble bathrooms. There's a decent French restaurant with red
walls and mahogany furniture, as well as a breakfast room. Meetings facilities
and a business corner round out the amenities here, and though Wi-Fi is free,
high-speed Internet costs extra. It's one of the best-priced options in this incredibly popular area, along with the Hotel Britannique.

Scene

Elegant mid-range hotel with polished interiors

The biggest draws at the Hotel Royal Saint-Honore are the location and the accessible prices. Most of the hotels in this neighborhood are significantly more expensive; you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option nearby for these rates. Though entry-level rooms are small, at 17 square meters (182 square feet), the rooms at the charming Hotel Britannique are even smaller. This hotel also has a full-service restaurant and bar, not a given in Paris for this category (though some guests find the breakfast options a bit lacking). Guests here are mainly leisure tourists drawn by the convenient location, as well as a number of business travelers who are catered to with meeting facilities, free Wi-Fi, and a business corner.Housed in an elegant Hausmannian building, the Hotel Royal
Saint-Honore features a classic style that includes
gleaming marble floors in the lobby, decorative ceiling molding, and pillars
dotted throughout the space. The multicolored marble
flooring that features a geometric design is the main decorative focal point of
the lobby, where curved, black armchairs are clustered around round
marble-topped tables. Potted plants and orchids provide a dose of greenery, but
there’s not much else in the form of decor. The on-site cafe displays a bolder
design scheme with vibrant crimson walls decorated with colorful art as well as
green banquette seating paired with plaid chairs. Wooden floors complement the
mahogany bar and tables. There’s a subtle royal theme throughout reflecting the hotel's name: The breakfast room, for example, is dubbed Salon Louis XVI, and there's a crown insignia on doors above room numbers. In fact, the hotel does have aristocratic lineage; though this building dates to 1924, a prior hotel on this site was home to the Marquis de La Fayette and his family in the 18th century.

Location

A five-minute walk to Tuileries Gardens, Le Louvre, and Place Vendome

Hotel Royal Saint Honoré occupies
a prime central location in Pairs -- many major tourist sights can be accessed
on foot. Nearby attractions include the Louvre Museum (nine-minute walk away),
Tuileries Gardens (four-minute walk), and Place Vendome (three-minute walk). The
Musee d'Orsay is right across the Seine (13-minute walk), as is the artsy Saint
Germain area. The hotel is situated on the chic Rue Saint-Honore, a high-end
shopping street lined with big name designers, small boutiques, and lots of excellent restaurants. The nearest metro station, Tuileries, is a block away, and the hotel is also close to the Pyramides and Concorde stations. Other top sights, like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacre Coeur, and the Luxembourg Gardens can be reached in about a half-hour via public transportation. The Charles de Gaulle International Airport is about
a 40-minute drive, while the Orly airport is about a half-hour away.

Rooms

Small, pleasant rooms with elegant decor and marble bathrooms

Rooms at the hotel are small, but clean and elegantly
appointed. Decor varies a bit between categories, but all rooms have dark wood furniture, white walls, wall-to-wall carpeting, and floor-to-ceiling drapes. Though some rooms are more understated with gray bedspreads and pillows, others feature fabric accents in jewel tones such as purple or blue. All rooms have flat-screen
TVs, tea- and coffee-making facilities (not always a given in Paris in this category), minibars, small work desks, telephones,
and electronic safes, plus some have lovely balconies. Two-room, two-bathroom Suites are also available and popular with families of four (the bedroom is a Deluxe Room with a double bed or two singles, and the living space has two sofa beds). Marble bathrooms are small, but clean and pleasant, with
ample vanity space, shower/tub combos, plush bathrobes, wall-mounted
hairdryers, and a range of toiletries provided.

Features

French restaurant, breakfast room, meeting facilities, and free Wi-Fi

There aren't many property features at this small hotel, but there are more than at some competing properties. There is an on-site
dining option, Café 221, which offers traditional brasserie meals as well as
cocktails and various drinks. There’s also a breakfast room and a breakfast buffet
is included in some rates; options typically include cereal, breads, bacon, and eggs, though some guests find the options a bit lacking. The hotel offers meeting facilities and there’s a
computer available for guests’ use. Basic Wi-Fi is free, but high-speed
Internet incurs and extra charge.
