Bottom Line

The 25-room Hotel Gramont Opera Paris is conveniently located within walking distance of a number of traditional attractions in Paris; the Louvre, Les Halles, and the Jardin des Tuileries are all within a 20-minute walk. As such, it is a popular tourist spot, despite slightly small rooms (though small rooms are common in Paris). Rooms are stylish and serene, with contemporary toile wallpaper, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, and minibars, but some guests have noted signs of wear and tear. The Metro is nearby and Wi-Fi is free (but spotty).

Scene

Clean, stylish value hotel

The lobby is an elegant welcome to Hotel Gramont Opera Paris. Lavender, velour-covered Queen Anne chairs, and armchairs sit on a handsome white-and-black check tile floor; there are a few mirrors and gilt-framed prints on the walls. Visitors have noted, and the hotel seems to pride itself on, the fact that most of the hotel staff speak English and are particularly helpful; a large percentage of the clientele here are from English-speaking countries. Location and helpful staff are the highlights at this stylish, peaceful hotel.

Location

A few blocks from the Paris Opera, and an easy 20-minute walk to many major attractions

The Jardin des Tuileries, the Louvre, and Place St Michel are all within a 20-minute walk of the hotel, which sits a few blocks from the Paris Opera and half a block from the nearest metro stop, Quatre-Septembre. The area is filled with administrative buildings in the Haussmannian style; there is a plethora of cafés and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The Roissy Bus to and from CDG airport has its terminus at the back of Opera Garnier, a few minutes walk away.

Rooms

Serene yet tasteful rooms, in beige and lavender tones

Contemporary toile or floral wallpaper covers the walls in rooms at Hotel Gramont Opera Paris; some rooms are on the tight side, though this is common in Paris. Wall-to-wall carpeting keeps with the color scheme. Modern touches include velour, snakeskin-pattern throw pillows, and accent mirrors in the bathrooms. Some rooms have a balcony with views of the city. Bathrooms are diminutive with plastic stall showers. All rooms have small, wall-mounted flat-screen TVs, a safe, a minibar (without alcohol), a hair dryer, and laundry service.

Features

Lobby bar, breakfast room, and printer and computer for public use

Breakfast is served, for a fee, in a small subterranean, windowless room that is accessible via the lobby and a tiled staircase. Free croissants and coffee are available in the lobby. A computer with internet access and an adjacent printer sits in the lobby for use by guests; there is a also a tiny, intimate bar with room for a few patrons (there are several tall wooden stools in front of a counter towards the back of the lobby).
