Housed in a historic 17th century stone building -- Louis XIV used to house his grooms on-site back in the day -- Hotel Fontaines Du Luxembourg offers a charming juxtaposition of old-world charm and funky modern design. The reception area at this 30-room boutique hotel speaks well to this aesthetic, where exposed beam ceilings and stone walls blend with colorful murals and modern chandeliers. The hotel's lounge and breakfast area offer a similar vibe. The lounge, where coffee, tea, and other beverages are served at certain points throughout the day, features a wall of bookshelves, a flat-screen TV, and comfortable seating. The breakfast room retains its original vaulted ceilings and features lovely murals of classic Parisian architecture, creating a cozy atmosphere. On nice days, guests can move outside for meals or drinks to a small private courtyard. Hotel Fontaines Du Luxembourg is excellently located on the Left Bank, in an area removed from hordes of tourists, at the junction of Saint Germain des Prés and the Latin Quarter. It's surrounded by quiet streets and restaurants, and is within easy walking distance of two metro stations, which include lines to both airports. The metro can take visitors to all the major sights in Paris, including the Eiffel Tower. The Luxembourg Gardens are just around the corner and the Notre Dame Cathedral is within walking distance.Paris is one of Europe's most densely populated cities, and is currently one of the world's most important business and cultural metropolises.
