Pros
- Convenient location in walking distance of restaurants, bars, and entertainment
- Bright, suite-style rooms have living areas and mini-fridges
- Free access to nearby Atlantis resort
- Scenic pool features swim-up bar
- On-site restaurant is open for all meals, and offers a free hot breakfast

- No airport shuttle service provided
- Typically bland chain decor in rooms and common areas
Bottom Line
The 223-room Comfort Suites Paradise Island is a definite upgrade from what most people expect of the chain. The hotel underwent a 6.3-million-dollar renovation in 2013 and it shows: the rooms are modern and contemporary, the pool is clean and inviting, the restaurant is large with an attractive outdoor seating area, and there is even a chic bar in the lobby. All rooms are Junior Suites and have partially sectioned-off living room areas, mini-fridges, and work desks with office chairs. Guests get free access to Atlantis --a nearby resort that's more like a theme park, with aquariums and casinos on-site. Atlantis also has its own beach, which is a welcome bonus considering that the Comfort Suites doesn't have any shoreline on-site. Travelers may want to compare rates at the nearby Sunrise Beach Club, a beachfront property that offers spacious rooms with fully equipped kitchens.

The four-story Comfort Suites underwent a 6.3-million-dollar renovation in 2013 and it looks and feels modern, despite its generic chain decor. The exteriors are painted an attractive tropical coral with white balconies and accents. The building is divided into two main sections situated on either side of the lobby and there's a pool and restaurant in the back of the hotel. The grounds are nicely landscaped with lovely flowers, palm trees, and a gazebo. The lobby is generic but modern, with a small check-in desk, beige couches and chairs, a large coffee table, and an excursion desk. There's also a chic bar off to the side (although it's only open in the late afternoons) as well as a few tables and couches. The hallways and other parts of the grounds are plain and have beige walls and dark carpeting. A big draw of Comfort Suites is the free access to Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, including the resort's water park. Guests -- most of whom are vacationing families and couples -- can stay at the Comfort Suites for a fraction of the price of Atlantis, but spend their days taking advantage of Atlantis’ amenities.
Location
In the center of Paradise Island, within walking distance of Atlantis
Comfort Suites is located in the center of Paradise Island, but not on the beach. The hotel is in walking distance to Atlantis Resort and Marina Village, which has a variety of restaurants and bars. The hotel operates a shuttle to and from Atlantis, and can also drop guests at other area attractions, including the Cove, Harborside Resort, and One&Only Ocean Club Resort and Golf Course. Downtown Nassau is a 20-minute walk over the bridge, or a short drive or boat ride away. It's about half an hour's drive from the airport depending on the time of day (traffic can get bad through downtown Nassau). Some taxi drivers will make passengers pay the $1 cash-only fee to get across the bridge to the island, so it helps to have a little cash on arrival -- fortunately, the Bahamian dollar is pegged on par with the US dollar and American currency is widely accepted. Note that the hotel does not provide an airport shuttle.
Rooms
Junior Suites with garden or pool views, separate living areas, and mini-fridges
All rooms at Comfort Suites are Junior Suites, and guests have a choice of one king bed or two doubles. The rooms aren’t terribly large -- the bedroom area, in particular, is tight. Overall, the rooms have a clean and contemporary, if generic, look with beige walls, tile floors, and tan drapes. White furniture and solid lighting make the rooms feel bright and airy. Bright art prints hang on the walls and orange bed runners add pops of color to the otherwise drab spaces. Rooms also have separate seating areas partially divided from the bedrooms by partitions as well as Juliet balconies, many with lovely garden or pool views. The rooms come with convenient amenities including safes, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and free Wi-Fi. The bathrooms are tiny with limited counter space and have separate rooms with shower/tub combos and toilets.
Features
Free access to Atlantis, free hot breakfast, and a lovely pool with a swim-up bar and adjacent restaurant
The hotel has a medium-sized pool surrounded by palm trees and tropical bushes, with plenty of lounge chairs and parasols for poolside lounging. There's also a swim-up bar. Right next to the pool sits Crusoe’s Garden Restaurant, which has both indoor seating and a large, attractive outdoor patio with white tables and chairs and a long bar. The menu consists mostly of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and seafood. A free breakfast is served in a set of separate breakfast rooms, which can reportedly get crowded. Items includes eggs, meats, DIY waffles, and plenty of continental options. There are also two contemporary meeting rooms with modern lighting and furnishings; one can fit up to 10 guests while the other has capacity for 50. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
All guests get free access to Aquaventure, Atlantis’ waterpark, as well as all of the resort's facilities: the swimming pools, beach, health spa, tennis courts, golf, Kids Camp, movie theatre, and casino. Comfort Suites guests also get signing privileges at all of Atlantis’ restaurants and lounges.
