Walking into Toscana Inn Hotel from the busy streets of Panama City is like entering a quiet retreat. The lobby has a polished feel with big, cushy leather couches creating a cozy seating area around antique tables with claw feet, embossed woodwork, and decorative brass tacks. Paintings from local artists, beautiful stained glass lanterns on the front desk, and etched glass windows add an air of sophistication to the space. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and has the basics that travelers need, but few extras. Couples and some families are attracted to this property for its comfortable environment and convenient location at a value price.  

Toscana Inn Hotel is in the bustling El Crangrejo district of Panama City, so named for the way its streets spread out like the claws of a crab. It is a walkable area of the city with many shops, casinos, and cafes to explore, plus it's known for its active nightlife. Via Argentina, a particularly charming street to walk, is a five-minute walk away. It is an 11-minute walk to Iglesia del Carmen, a beautiful Catholic Church worth checking out. The nearest bus stop is a five-minute walk from the hotel.

Outside the neighborhood, the Miraflores Locks offer a view of ships passing through the canal’s famous locks and has a small museum detailing their history. The site is a 25-minute drive from the hotel. The Albrook Mall, a 15-minute drive from the hotel, is one of the largest malls in the world. Albrook International Airport, behind the mall, is also a 15-minute drive from the hotel, and Tocumen International Airport is a 30-minute drive away. 

Rooms are comfortable, outfitted with simple decor that's a bit dated but still appealing. Earthy ivory, orange, and gold, along with basic wood furniture, create a homey atmosphere. There’s little embellishment besides towel animals and paintings by local artists. An extra chair, luggage rack, and desk make the space functional, and everything is clean and well-kept. Double Rooms have two double beds; Triple Rooms have three twins; and King Rooms have a single king-size bed. Soundproof windows keep rooms quiet, despite the city location, but there are no balconies. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, mini-fridge, iron, and a free safe. Bathrooms are simple and tight, equipped with a roomy shower. Hairdryers are provided and free toiletries include soaps, shampoo, lotion, and a shower cap.

Toscana Inn Hotel is light on extra features, lacking a pool, gym, and entertainment. The restaurant serves a free Panamanian breakfast buffet with hot and cold items, which most guests find satisfying. A small rooftop terrace offers a beautiful outdoor escape in the middle of the city. Potted trees and flowers sit on terra-cotta tile, and a few garden benches and tables offer a spot to take in the city views. A meeting room, computers in the lobby, and free, reliable Wi-Fi make it a viable choice for business travelers.
