The 25-story Majestic Beach Towers features gorgeous views that get better with altitude. The lobby is mediocre, though, with low ceilings, beige tile floors, and an unfortunate series of round, wide obstructionist poles. As a condo property with numerous pools and direct beach access, this resort largely attracts families on extended holiday getaways.

Close to the beach and restaurants, but not downtown
The hotel sits right on the beach, off a busy thoroughfare dotted with other resorts. Within walking distance is the Shoppes at Edgewater, a shopping center with two pizza restaurants, a Subway sandwich shop, Pink Pelican Ice Cream Bar, and Los Rancheros Mexican Restaurant. The shopping center also houses Rock’it Lanes, a bowling alley with an arcade and sports bar, as well as an Enterprise Rent-A-Car location. The property is about a 15- to 20-minute walk from downtown Panama City Beach.

Room types on this condo property range from basic studios to three-bedroom suites. All suites (not studios) include a full kitchen with full-size refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, coffeemakers, blenders, toasters, cookware, dishes, utensils, and washer/dryers. Furniture and color palettes vary widely from suite to suite, but living rooms usually have a comfortable sofa and chairs, flat-screen TV, and a four-person dining table. Bedrooms are carpeted; living rooms have either carpet or tile. In each suite, a sliding glass door opens onto the private balcony, revealing lounge chairs or a second dining table with chairs and a stunning view of the gulf waters that look close enough to drink.

This resort is big on amenities -- so much so that the property includes an “amenities building.” Among its bigger features are an arcade and movie theater, whose schedule is posted at the front desk. The third-floor fitness center is also a standout, with dozens of cardio and strength-training machines, free weights, and a refrigerator stocked with beverages. The resort’s casual sit-down restaurant, H20 Bar & Grill, is only open seasonally.Pools are plentiful here -- there are two outdoor pools, one outdoor wading pool for kids, plus two indoor pools. All the pools are basic -- don’t expect water slides or fountains, and some guests report negligent maintenance and litter at the pool and in other common areas.
