times
A value hotel receiving a range of guest complaints including reports of bugs, sand in the beds, and rowdy, young revelers staying at the hotel, Boardwalk Beach Resort
Hotel & Convention Center's main redeeming quality is its beachfront location in Panama City. The 319 rooms have
mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers, though, and the hotel is in walking
distance to a nightclub and several restaurants. For food, the property has a
bar and grill as well as a cafe serving snacks. For entertainment, there’s always the beach as well as two outdoor pools. Guests should compare rates with Palmetto Inn & Suites, an upper-middle-range beachfront property near Pier Park.
Scene
Dated beachfront value hotel popular with spring breakers
Rooms at Boardwalk Beach
Resort Hotel are in a four-story building with white iron rails guarding the
outside hallways. The beachfront property is surrounded by palm trees, while inside aquamarine and purple paint brighten up the lobby. Guests find a lot of
the common areas in need of an update, including the outdoor pools, which are fairly plain with
concrete decks and white lounge chairs. There’s a cute restaurant on-site, the
Rusty Anchor Bar and Grill, with nautical flair including vintage scuba
helmets, and there’s also a spacious, simple cafe serving breakfast and lunch. The hotel can be popular with the
spring break crowd, however, making for some loud late-night hallways.
Location
Beachside location near other condos and within walking distance of restaurants
The hotel is located by the beach, next
to the Boardwalk Beach Resort Condominiums. There are several other condo complexes
nearby. Plenty of restaurants are within a short walk including Pineapple
Willy’s, Hammerhead Fred’s, and Spinnaker Beach Club. There is a nightclub
nearby and a Publix grocery store within a 10-minute drive. Northwest Florida
Beaches International Airport is around a half-hour drive.
Rooms
Dated rooms in need of some renovations; some are more modern than others
Though rooms at the hotel have cheery ocean-themed decor including blue and green walls and bedspreads covered in tropical flower print, guests have a range of complaints running the gamut from chipped paint to leaky air-conditioners to bugs. All rooms have mini-fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers, tube-style TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Some guests complain the beds are hard and the sheets are sandy. Rooms have parquet wood floors and small, simple bathrooms with shower/tub combinations. Rooms with gulf views are available as well as rooms with a lofted bed above the couch. Overall, many rooms are dated and show signs of wear and tear.
Features
Beach access, two pools, and convention center
The hotel has direct access to a flat,
sandy beach and two outdoor pools with lounge chairs. There’s a convention center
on the property and an open-air pavilion for hosting private events. The hotel
has a bar and grill as well as a cafe. Free parking is available, though guests
complain parking can be a challenge. There’s a game room with arcade games, and
the hotel allows dogs for a fee.
