Boardwalk Beach Resort Condominiums is an upper-middle-range property with 320 condos on the beach in Panama City. One- to three-bedroom condo units have either full kitchens or kitchenettes as well as private balconies, some with water views. The units are privately owned, so decor varies; some can be dated and showing signs of wear. For dining, the property has an open-air bar and grill. In addition to the lovely stretch of white-sand beach, there are an outdoor pool, two hot tubs, a splash pad, fitness center, and sauna. Guests complain about the security guards being too overbearing, however, and there are age restrictions for renting. There are a lot of condo complexes to choose from in the area, and travelers might want to compare rates with other properties, including Sunrise Beach Resort, a well-liked complex with two outdoor pools.
Scene
Beachfront condo complex popular with families and children
This beachside property is situated in a 22-story mint green and peach building overlooking the white sandy shores of Panama City Beach. The lobby of the hotel is painted in tranquil blue and teal shades paired with white details for a clean, beachy effect. Outside is a curvy pool surrounded by tall palm trees and blue loungers. Pastel colored tables and chairs fill the patio of the on-site restaurant, Under the Boardwalk Bar and Grille, which offers a spot for guests, mainly families and couples, to sit and take in the ocean view while enjoying a frozen cocktail or a snack. Guests receive a wristband upon arrival and the security personnel earn criticism for being too militant. There’s a convention center on the property, and twice a year the center transforms into an indoor motorcycle mall.
Location
On the beach near other condos and within walking distance of restaurants
The hotel is located directly on the beach next to the Boardwalk Beach Resort Hotel. There are several other condo complexes nearby. Plenty of restaurants are within a short walk including Pineapple Willy’s, Hammerhead Fred’s, and Spinnaker Beach Club. There is a nightclub nearby and a Publix grocery store within a 10-minute drive. Northwest Florida Beaches International Beaches Airport is around a half-hour drive.
Rooms
Simple, homey one- to three-bedroom condos, some with dated decor
The property has one- to three-bedroom condos with full kitchens or kitchenettes and private balconies, some of which offer coastal views. The units are privately owned, and though decor varies, it is generally homey -- though can be dated and show signs of wear. The one-bedroom we saw had a palm tree motif popping up everywhere from the shower curtain to the bedspread. Efficiencies only have kitchenettes, while larger rooms have full kitchens with ovens, refrigerators, and cookware as well as washers and dryers. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, but guests complain rooms are tight on amenities like dish detergent and towels. Bathrooms vary as well, but most are small and simple, outfitted with shower/tub combos and supplied with limited toiletries.
