The on-site Beachside Bistro has a small bar with wooden bar stools and live music entertainment in the evenings. Inside, there are square tables with blue linens under glass tops, and guests can sample seafood dishes such as steamed spiced shrimp and conch fritters. There's also a wooden deck with seating under blue umbrellas where guests can order beers by the bucket. Nags Head Wood Preserve, which has hiking trails, is a 10-minute drive away, and the hotel is also within a three-minute drive from the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Jockey's Ridge State Park is less than a 10-minute drive from the hotel. Getting to the Norfolk International Airport takes an hour and 45 minutes by car.

Rooms have generic artwork and dated patterned bedspreads that are in need of an update. Condo-style suites are available; these have living rooms, dining tables, laundry rooms, and fully equipped kitchens with stoves and dishwashers. Bathrooms are roomy and have big shower/tub combos.
