Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range, 300-room Park
Inn by Radisson Oslo Airport is a five-minute walk on a covered path from the airport, connecting to the city center in 20 minutes via an express train. As expected, the hotel has loads of business features including 46 meeting rooms and a convention lounge space with snacks and beverages. But despite the business focus, this chain property keeps a playful atmosphere with punchy colors and mod designs throughout. The soundproofed rooms have a similarly playful decor (note the puppy photos) plus modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and electronic safes, but no minibars or mini-fridges. Travelers may want to compare rates with the nearby Radisson
Blu Airport Hotel, Oslo, which includes a gym -- something lacking in this property.

Scene

Playful, modish decor with a bit more character than the usual chain

Despite being a chain, the Park Inn has a certain modern playfulness that's apparent from first glance. Its gray exterior abandons the usual square structure for a facade of bent angles and cubist pop-out windows. Inside, the lobby and public spaces punch up the white walls and floors with a dose of Crayola colors. Sheer red curtains, mod armless loveseats, and giant lampshade chandeliers keep the look fresh and youthful. A white, sleek half-circle front desk topped with accordion-pleated, baby-blue pendant lights greets guests. A sweeping spiral staircase with glass and chrome railings leads to the business center, another hub of the hotel. Even in this workspace, the vibe stays light and playful, with striped carpets, pod ottomans, and bold orange or red accent walls. Given its location, the hotel and its features cater to many business travelers, but couples on vacation also find this a convenient stop.

Location

A five-minute walk from Oslo Airport terminals

Connected to Oslo's Gardermoen airport by a walkway, the hotel is a five-minute walk
to airport terminals, and restaurants and shops. From the airport, travelers can take the Olso Airport Express Train to reach the Oslo city center in 20 minutes. In the opposite direction to the north of the airport is the historic village of Eidsvoll,
a top day-trip destination with breathtaking views of the Norwegian countryside. This town can be reached in 25 minutes by car or about 30 minutes by train.

Rooms

Spacious rooms with fresh, graphic decor and modern amenities

The punchy, modern design found in the common spaces continues in guest rooms. Slate-gray carpets and dove-gray walls are the neutral backdrop for lipstick-red pedestal tables, yellow mod armchairs, and a few rainbow blocks of color marching across the bed runners. A graphic theme of rectangles repeats on the curtains, the walls, and the carpets. And a few color photos of puppies keeps things playful. Rooms are spacious and make good use of their square footage with corner desks and flat-screen TVs flush against the wall. Each Business Friendly Room includes a set of table and chairs for in-room meetings or dining. Standard Extra Rooms include little curtained daybed spaces with casement windows. (These are the cubist pop-out windows on the hotel's facade.) Bathrooms are a bit more straight forward with simple gray and white tile, long black vanities, and open wet-room-style showers separated with a glass partition. All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, coffee and tea facilities, safes, and individual climate controls. And perhaps most importantly, all rooms are soundproofed, so air traffic doesn’t disturb guests.

Features

Huge on-site restaurant and bar, multiple meeting rooms and conference facilities

Free buffet breakfasts are served in the hotel's RBG Bar & Grill,
which can accommodate 220 guests, so there's never a wait for a table. The stylish dining room offering floor-to-ceiling windows, sheer red drapes, and seating on wire-legged red chairs or gray banquettes. Lunch and dinner are also served here, and the menu is focused on Norwegian cuisine. Rooms service is also available. The bar area is equally sizable, able to seat 60 on red stools and circular gray chairs centered around a curving modern bar. There are a whopping 46 state-of-the-art
meeting rooms, in addition to a large ballroom. Conference facilities have
lots of open space, with seating and a designated area for snacks and drinks.
Wi-Fi is included in the room rate.
