Bottom Line

Though less Disney-centric than resorts within the park’s gates, the Wyndham caters to families visiting the Disney parks and provides plenty of family-friendly perks; the extensive breakfast buffet is visited by Disney characters three days a week, the large pool area has numerous water features and a playground, and the hotel provides a free shuttle to Disney parks. Rooms are neither luxe nor rundown. However, Standard Rooms are small, with exterior entrances, cramped bathrooms, and no work desks (it's worth upgrading to a Tower Room). Nonetheless, it’s a solid mid-range choice for those who do not need to be within the gates of the park –- or may prefer not to be.

Scene

Constantly bustling with families in town to visit the Disney parks, this hotel fortunately has ample space so as not to feel crowded.

Like almost all hotels in the area, this Wyndham caters to families who appreciate its proximity to the Disney parks. The large lobby connects numerous popular common areas of the hotel –- the gift shop, the game room, the children’s activity area, the cocktail lounge –- and provides plenty of seating so it rarely feels overly crowded.

Location

Within walking distance of downtown Disney and numerous chain restaurants

The hotel is conveniently located about a three-minute walk from downtown Disney and a 10-minute walk from numerous chain restaurants. Though walking to the Disney parks may be a bit too far, all are within seven miles of the Wyndham and the hotel provides a free shuttle that leaves every 30 minutes and stops by all of them. Those with a car can also easily reach SeaWorld and Universal Studios via Interstate 4.

Rooms

Rooms are clean and comfortable, but disappointingly small and bland.

Rooms here are clean and comfortable, and include all the amenities requisite of a mid-range hotel; they have free Wi-Fi, large flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and laptop-sized safes. But Standard Rooms in particular are small, with no work desks and cramped bathrooms, and feature exterior, motel-style entrances which some feel makes for a noisier experience. Upgrading to a Tower Room means the inclusion of a work desk, either a sofa or small table, and more counter space in the bathrooms. Disney View Rooms offer views of the Disney fireworks displays.

Features

Features here are ample, with most being geared towards families.

Within walking distance of downtown Disney, the hotel provides many features to satisfy families in town visiting the theme park. A free shuttle makes stops at all of the parks, the extensive breakfast is visited by Disney characters every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and outdoor activities include a large pool area with water features, a volleyball court, a basketball court, tennis courts, and a playground. The hotel also has a game room and a children’s activity room off the lobby with TVs, games, and toys.Besides the pool snack bar and a 24-hour convenient store with grab-and-go hot items and snacks, the hotel has a sit-down restaurant as well as a lobby lounge. Guests can also order pizza from a Domino’s kiosk in the lobby, and room service is available from early in the morning till late at night. Some business travelers do stay at the hotel, and the Wyndham features a small business center – complete with a boarding pass printing station, several computers, and an ATM – as well as several meeting spaces. It also has a small fitness center with both cardio and weight-training machines, and a laundry room is available for guest use. Parking is valet only.
