Cleaning of rooms is inconsistent
A good fit for families,
SUNSOL International Drive offers an outdoor playground, a pool with a
snack bar, and a small splash park. It's located on International Drive, which is dotted with restaurants and shops, and staff members speak both Portuguese and Spanish, making it a popular choice for Latin travelers. The mid-range, chain hotel has
192 rooms with modern furnishings, coffeemakers, and flat-screen TVs, though cleaning can be inconsistent. The free breakfast doesn’t have as many options as some
of the other hotels in the area, and bathrooms are small with showers, but no tubs. For a similar price, guests may also want to check out Best Western Plus Universal, which doesn't have as many amenities, but is within walking distance of Universal Studios.
Scene
Family-friendly hotel with plenty of outdoor spaces
SUNSOL International Drive
has plenty of outdoor spaces for families to take advantage of, including an
outdoor playground with a colorful climbing structure with plastic slides for children. There’s a wooden deck where guests can relax overlooking a small pond
with fish in it. The pool is a good size, though not huge, and there’s a lot of space to lounge on bright
yellow chairs or inside one of the purple cabana-style structures. There’s also a splash park with
flower-shaped showers and fountains for children to run through. The snack bar is
colorful and modern with bright orange barstools and pretty wood floors.
Location
On International Drive within short drive of theme parks and convention center
SUNSOL is conveniently located on International
Drive, which is dotted with family-friendly restaurants, shops, and several other hotels. The hotel offers
a free shuttle to the Universal and Disney theme parks; the shuttle to Epcot Center runs from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., while the Universal Studios shuttle starts at 9 a.m. and stops at 7:30 p.m. Orange County
Convention Center is within a 10-minute drive, and Universal Studios is just over 10 minutes away by car. The airport is 20 to 25 minutes away.
Rooms
Plain and simple, with mini-fridges, coffeemakers, and microwaves; cleaning sometimes iffy
Rooms are plain and simple, with modern decor in shades of dark blue, beige, and white. Some rooms have carpeting while others have tile
floors. Modern furnishings include sleek white desks and matching closets. All
rooms have flat-screen TVs with premium channels, and free Wi-Fi. Microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers come as standard. Bathrooms are
pretty with modern beige tile and pale pink shower curtains, but are small and without tubs. Sinks and mirrors are outside of the bathrooms, near
the microwaves and mini-fridges. Some rooms have windows that overlook hallways, and cleaning has been inconsistent for some guests.
Features
Large outdoor pool and splash park, snack bar, and playground
SUNSOL
International Drive has a nice-size outdoor pool and a splash park area for the
children. The snack bar serves a free breakfast including waffles and bagels,
and lunch and dinner items are available for purchase as well as drinks (including frozen cocktails and beer) and
smoothies. There’s a small playground outside. The hotel has an Internet corner
with two computers, and coffee and lemonade are available in the lobby. Also,
the hotel employs a security guard providing 24-hour surveillance. While Wi-Fi, shuttle service, and breakfast are free, there is a daily resort fee tacked on for these services.
