Hampton Inn & Suites Orlando Airport @ Gateway Village is a three-pearl airport transit and business hotel located about a five-minute drive or free shuttle ride from the Orlando International Airport. The property features 180 modern rooms and suites with comfortable beds, and all have black-out curtains and flat-screen TVs, plus heavy doors that help keep ambient noise out. Amenities include a free hot breakfast with a waffle station, an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and a business center where guests can print their boarding passes free of charge. There are three meeting rooms and group discounts are available for conferences. While it's a good choice near the airport, those in town for conventions or amusement parks may find Hampton Inn Orlando International Drive/Convention Center to be more convenient.
Scene
Well-maintained chain hotel features a big outdoor patio area with fire pits
This mid-range business/airport hotel occupies a well-maintained two-toned salmon-and beige-hued building set in a commercial area amidst other hotels and shops. Inside, the lobby is simple and well-maintained, with a few blueish chairs and sofas and stone flooring set across from the reception desk, plus an additional lounge area towards the back set with dark-green tables and booths where guests can take their breakfast. There's even more seating outside on a large patio with a few tables and chairs, plus a fire pit feature for cool evenings. The pool sits off to one side and a few palm trees planted across the grounds detract from the otherwise strip mall atmosphere. Most guests here are airport or cruise ship transit passengers needing a convenient overnight spot, as well as some people in town for business. While plenty of families stay at this hotel, there's not a ton specifically for kids. However, cribs and high chairs are available on request.
Location
In a sprawling strip mall surrounded by other hotels, a short drive from the Orlando International Airport
Hampton Inn & Suites is located just off of Semoran Boulevard, a main artery that leads away from the airport, about a five-minute drive away. The whole area is dominated by similar mid-range chain hotels, though there are a couple of chain restaurants (think TGI Fridays and Hooters) in the immediate vicinity and a nail and hair salon just across the parking lot. It's around a 20-minute drive to Universal Studios, while Walt Disney World and Epcot take about 25 minutes to reach. SeaWorld takes just under 15 minutes to reach by car, while downtown Orlando is closer to 20 minutes away. Factor in 45 minutes to get to Cape Canaveral or the Kennedy Space Center by car.
Rooms
Simple, pleasantly furnished rooms and suites come with mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs
This Hampton Inn offers a full range of rooms and studio-style Suites, including accessible units for wheelchair users and the hard of hearing. Rooms and Suites alike come with either one king bed or two queen beds, but Suites are larger and add sofas and ottomans. Units are pleasant enough, but decor is easy to forget, with dark-wood finish desks and dressers and off-white walls adorned with a few framed prints of floral paintings paired with soft lighting, dark-blue patterned carpets, neutral patterned black-out curtains, and white bed linens on comfortable beds. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, large mini-fridges, bedside charging docks with plug points and USB ports, and small coffeemakers. Thick fireproof doors keep noise to a minimum, but they are also a bit heavy and slam quickly. Bathrooms are simple but well maintained. They come with granite countertops and shower/tub combos (with baths or roll-in showers in wheelchair accessible rooms). Hairdryers and Neutrogena toiletries are provided, and the hotel provides free toothpaste and shaving kits free for guests who forgot theirs. Some rooms have views of the airport and runways.
Features
Free shuttle, free hot breakfast, multiple meeting rooms, business center, 24-hour gym, and hotel-wide Wi-Fi
Amenities at the Hampton Inn are typical of what one might expect of an airport chain hotel and include a free 24-hour shuttle, free hot breakfast with basic items such as coffee and DIY waffles plus fruit and hot coffee. There's also a business center where guests can print boarding passes free of charge and it's open 24 hours a day. The hotel also offers a fitness center with free weights and a few Precor treadmills. There's an outdoor pool in a courtyard with plenty of lounge chairs. Other facilities include three meeting rooms, two of which can be combined for a larger space, and group rates are available. Free hot tea and coffee are available in the lobby around the clock, and there's a small mini-mart set-up with a few snacks and microwave dinners. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and there's plenty of free on-site parking. Park Stay and Go packages are especially popular with cruise travelers.
